Hotel Brudermuehle, Bamberg

We spent three pleasant nights in the Brudemuehle. It is ideally located in the center of the Altstadt (old city) directly on the banks of the Regnitz River. Ideal location for a sightseeing stay. Some rooms have a direct view of the charming old Rathaus (city hall) that straddles the river just a couple of blocks away. As it is an old building (but perfectly maintained) some bathrooms are small, but they are all modern. The included breakfast is excellent--typical German hotel fare. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and does a fine job with Franconian/Bavarian dishes. We slept with open windows so we could hear the river. The staff members were friendly and very helpful, dealing with our lost luggage crisis cheerfully and professionally. It is a small, relaxed, family run place that maintains high standards of friendly service. When we returned to our room the last night of our stay, there was an iced split of sparkling wine and two glasses waiting for us.
