Best Western Inn & Conference Center, Poughkeepsie

The staff was great from check in to our check out. Great hotel and fantastic rate. Will stay the next time I need a break

Our recent visit was for 3 nights. The hotel had large private functions each evening, Very loud music, children running wild through the lobby, limited parking during the events. A bit overwhelming. The rooms are in need of management inspection and repairs. We needed a different refrigerator, a shower head, a new phone. Each time we left the hotel and returned, our keys did not work. Many, many trips back to the front desk for new keys. The pool while advertised, was not heated and the access locked. You could not even enjoy a cup of coffee in the sun poolside. Our visit was in 80* weather in early September. The breakfast buffett was acceptable, but opens to late on the weekends. We would not return.

Our family had a wedding at the country club, so she secured a block of rooms for out of town guests. While I know she tried to hold down everyone's expenses, I would have preferred another hotel. The "breakfast" was not good. There had been a washing machine that ran over near our room, so the hallway was wet and smelled. I realize that everyone is on a tight budget while traveling, add a few dollars to your hotel budget and avoid this hotel.

My family and I went for their Mother's Day brunch. It is a good thing we all have a good sense of humor. It was the worst brunch I have ever been too. The only thing that was good was the scrambled eggs, which I had to wait 10 minutes for, the bacon and the coffee. Some of the breakfast meats were unidentifiable. There were no pancakes, why? Most of the food was not hot enough even if it came directly from the kitchen. The desert table was messy and empty with little to pick from. Only the Indian Food was labeled. The American food was not. We were ten in our party and not one of us had a good thing to say about this brunch. They really need to hire a professional event planner to help them get their act together and to avoid reviews such as this.

Best Western has a reputation in my mind for clean, comfortable accommodations. This hotel lived up to my expectations. However, the devil is in the details. The neighboring room doors slammed all morning and shook me in my bed. The alarm clock, which I never touched before going to bed, went off at 5:20 am and produced static continuously until I unplugged it at 6:00am. No buttons on the clock would silence it. Also, for anyone who may be challenged by stairs, there are no elevators up to the upper floors. Staff graciously offered to help carry bags if need be. I declined. All in all, although the price was right, I didn't get enough sleep the one night I stayed here to justify the cost.

I can't believe this hotel gets 3 diamonds from AAA. Our family visits the area a couple times per year because our son is a student at the Culinary Institute. In the past we had stayed at the Courtyard but was hoping for better at the Best Western. When we walked through the front door, I noticed a musty smell but dismissed it. They placed our family (with a small child) in the first room off of the common areas. At 2AM we were awakened to the sweet sounds of the bar letting out, with fighting, profanity and all. The next day we left for a day trip to NYC and returned at approx 7PM to find that our room had not been visited by housekeeping. The staff was apologetic, but offered no recompense. We will never stay at this hotel again!

We had a very nice stay here with our two children. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. It was conveniently located for exploring the FDR Hyde Park sites.
