Our family happened upon the Belleair Beach Motel for us while looking for a motel that has smoking rooms(and there aren't many!)Not that everyone smokes, but it was wonderful to find a motel that had rooms available that do allow it. It is an older motel, but that's what we enjoyed - that it wasn't a large hotel chain and had it's own personality. My husband and I are in our mid 40's and the Belleair fit our lifestyle and budget perfectly
We stayed for 5 days on a second floor gulf view efficiency, which was very large with a king bed, dining table, couch, full size refrigerator and kitchenette, a big closet, and tv (which we barely watched). We went to a grocery store the first day and had most all of our meals in the room, as this was a motel and beach that you didn't want to leave to go to a busy restaurant.
The balcony view was the best I've ever seen! Watching a beautiful sunset each evening was the highlight of our vacation. The beach was not crowded, nor the motel - you had a sense of privacy, and couldn't hear anything once you closed your door.
Although Belleair does not have restaurants or shopping, it was only 2-3 minutes to find dining, grocery stores, and shopping. It was not a congested area, as were some of the other beach towns we saw from Clearwater Beach all the way down to St Pete. We were thrilled with our stay there and would recomend it to anyone looking for a quiet, reasonable and private motel to stay at on the West Coast. We will be back for another visit very soon!!
