The Palmer House Hotel, Sauk Centre

It feels like you step back in time when you walk into the lobby of the Palmer House, and it's a great feeling. Just a calm atmosphere that lets you take a deep breath and just enjoy your time there. You can enjoy the bits of history and old photos in the lobby along with the tinned ceiling and stained glass windows. Or relax next to the fireplace in the cozy chairs in the bar. And the food !!! I've tried sooo many items from the menu and the specials are just that - special! But you have to save room for their desserts as well! The dining room brings you back in time with it's 'counter seating' or you can gather with friends at a table by the windows. Having stayed there several times, I can honestly say I've never had an uncomfortable bed yet. It's a nice 'homey' feel to the rooms, not like some commercial hotel room. I will continue to choose the Palmer House over the local chain hotels every time I go to the area. Kelley and the staff are awesome and you never feel like a stranger - even on your first visit!
