don't stay unless you have kids
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/10
Have been to phuket 3 time now and this was the worst of the three hotels I have stayed in the other being 3 to 4 star and it cost twice as much. The food was below stanard. The pool was over crowded and the room smelled mouldy. The standard of service was really bad had to wait 20mins to be served at 3pm for lunch. Had to go and ask for coffee at breakfast. Had to sleep on sandy sheets for two nite as the bed sheets were not changed. Didn't even have our room ready when we arrived at 1pm said we had to wait for a hour if we wanted to have a queen bed.

Great location and facilities
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/08
Hotel is located among group of 5 consective hotels that offer a great deal of variety for different activities. The beds were rather uncomfortable (hard) though.

Great time
By Bruce, 1/16/08
Had three young children with us - they could not wait to start they day. Water slide with a swim up bar - great to watch the kids and enjoy the day. Outstanding breakfast buffet. Day care center kept kids busy while adults shopped.

Stunning
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/07
Stayed 9 nights, liked what we saw on internet and took a chance. Stunning hotel, waterpark great for kids, stayed in Anadam suite, and was happy with accomodation, view of beach and pool,Would definately go back, food at hotel very expensive, we ate on the beachfront, half the price, drinks in room very expensive, so go to local supermarket and stock up !Great kids club, friendly staff, Spa expensive, but locals are at the pool to give massage at reasonable price. Cant wait to go back !!!!

Phuket, Thailand
By Rose, 5/5/07
I likened Patong to a combination of Geyland and Boat Quay in Singapore, while Phuket Town is the family-friendly place. Patong's streets are lined with pubs and discos with funny names like Banana or Tiger but th ere are plenty of things to see, eat and buy. For starters, you will be amused to find wannable scuba divers having classes in mini swimming pools next to the pavement. Then t hre are craft shops selling shark jaws and insect speciments. For a dose of the familiar chill out at MacDonald's or Starbucks.

Not as good as it looks on website
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/06
Laguna Beach resort was suppose to be dlx 5 star, but it didn't feel like one, not in facilities, rooms, food or room. We stayed in the newly renovated premier deluxe rooms. The rooms were dark and dank and still look old and run down( despite the new renovations). The bathroom was badly designed, the glass shower screen was too narrow and does little to prevent water from splashing all over the bathroom, water flowed from around the bathtub and flooded the floor. The seaview was almost non exisistent as there are many huts of beach vendors, that almost totally obliterated the view (and we are already on the 3rd floor), for rooms on the 4th floor, the view would be blocked by the trees, so it is defintely not worth paying for a seaview. Breakfast selection was poor and was exactly the samefor the 3 days that we were there. The waterpark isn't as great as it looks on the website ... this is the first hotel that we had ever stayed at where our kids didn't even ask to go to the pool. Service was not 5 star either. there were hardly any smiles all around. and 1 bell hop refused to give us a tag for our luggage when we had to check out earlier and leave our luggage with them while we waited for our airport transfer, Becos, he was knocking off before our transport arrived, and he realised that he may not get the tip for helping us with the lugguage (he made this clear when he muttered that he was knocking off). The only bright spot in service was the guest relations officer, who was very helpful when I needed to get medication for my daughter. And Anna the resident elephant. The free night promotion was not worth-it. The bill can only be paid using credit cards if it is paid in BHT, but the rates were charged in USD, so that means anyone using credit card would suffer multiple rates conversions and what you see is not what you paid. For 5 star hotel like Laguna Beach, to be only able to pay in BHT but charged in USD...was rather unexpected... Its not a hotel I would stay at again..nor recommend to any friend.

we will return in 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/06
We have visited 6 times to this hotel and like the pool facilities, also the roomsare good and cater for all your needs. They are being renovated this year and also part of next year so there are builders on site but we never experienced any noise.sadly the new decor is a little too modern, doing away with the sunken baths. The prices in the restaurant are expensive and the a la carte menue has not changed for several years. There are local restaurants that deserve a visit to compare quality and cost.this is however a 4 star hotel and you should expect to pay the price.

Careful - rooms being renovated
By Billy Bob, 7/22/06
We visited in July 06, and the rooms were in process of being renovated (even though this was not mentioned when we made our reservations). Lots of noise and inconvenience during the day. It's good they are renovating the rooms, because they need it. We visited in 2001, and the rooms were beautiful, but since then the rooms have become very worn. My advice is to not visit until the renovations are complete.

Standard Fare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/06
For the amount I paid for this holiday, I think the hotel is overpriced. It has a lovely water park with a nice water slide for the children, and a nice kids club area. However, the service standard is rather poor. What is the point of having a great water park when the staff cannot understand the requests of guests. It is exasperating when I have to ask for pool towels with many gesturing and guessing. It is not good enough standard for a hotel to charge such high prices and not meet up the quality of the guests. I am surprised it is ranked number one here in yahoo. I have been in better hotels in Phuket that are officially rated 3-stars and charge 5 times less. However, it's redeeming point is that it is in Laguna, where you have access to the other hotels' facilities and restaurants. It was good not to have staff second-guess your requests at the other Laguna hotels.
