Where's the breakfast?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/07
For our anniversary, my husband and I stayed at the, what I now call the "Lightside House". There was no comparison to the other Bed & Breakfasts we have stayed. The Parisian room was ok, however, the goose feathered down mattress that was indicated on the website was not the mattress we slept on. In the bathroom was a long letter requesting that guests be conservative with the water usage. We thought this was an eco-friendly effort to conserve water on the small island, until we went upstairs the next morning for breakfast and realized the owner was extremely concerned about his profit margin. Expecting a quality and standard sized breakfast, we were served delicious and unique pancakes with a grocery bought turkey sausage and an orange slice. This was all great, but in our opinion was missing key breakfast elements- eggs, breakfast meat, potato item, and fresh fruit with the "choice" of pancakes, waffles, etc. When my husband asked if there were eggs to order, they replied eggs are only served every other day. This disappointing breakfast set a bitter tone for the rest of our stay on the island. We did enjoy the pancakes, but the best aspect of our stay was the recommendation to eat at Downriggers, where we enjoyed a real and delicious breakfast with eggs and potatoes.
