Poor Value for Money
By Ebbecky, 7/4/12
This resort is set in a nice secluded location with nice surroundings. The bures are quite nice but not what you would expect of a 5 star resort at all. Food is good, but expect small serving sizes (deliberately designed to make you pay more for side serves, entree, dessert etc). Beware of the management at this resort. We booked a very well known wedding photographer for our wedding at the resort, management were not happy with our selection and made our life difficult because they were not going to get commission from the photographer. Greedy when you are already paying over $500 per night + $1,000s for a wedding. We had diamond earrings stolen from our room on the last day of our stay, reported it to reception and no one followed up at all. Further to this we have since learnt that there was another theft from a bure around the same time we stayed so please use your SAFE at all times. The beach is quite disappointing full of seaweed at most times. The pool area is nice. Overall Tokoriki tries hard but does not represent good value for money.

The best holiday ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/18/06
My wife and I visited Tokoriki for our 20th Wedding anniversary. We had seen pictures on the web and read the reviews and were a little concerned things may not have been as relaxing and fantastic as was pertrayed. Our fears were soon set aside as the whole experience was outstanding. The staff were welcoming and could not do enough for us. The accommodation was first class and the food fantastic. We were fortunate that the weather was ideal for our four night stay. A walk to the top of the mountain is a must in the evening to take in the magnificent, romanmtic sunsets. We will certainly endeavour to visit Tokoriki in the future. The special touches to acknowledge celebrations were most appreciated.

Fantastic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/05
Tokoriki was a bit of a journey. We came from Japan and it took alomost 24hours to before we fianly arrived at our honeymoon bure. the first impression was one of smeely seaweed but once we got onto the island and saw our bure we were incredibley happy. It was a wonderful place to stay. The bure was great and very private = perfect for a honeymoon. The island is isolated so you can't expect to see mush of Fiji but for us it was ideal. There are plenyt of day trips to nearby islands including Castaway Island which was made famous in the film with Tom Hanks. The staff were great and views from the bure's are breathtaking. The meun maybe a little limited but for a week stay are perfectly fine. We have nothing but good things to say about tokoriki and it's gorgeous and friendly staff. We just wish we could have stayed for longer...

The best honeymoon of our dreams!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/9/05
I have to say that I had the most wonderful time at Tokoriki. My husband and I were there for our honeymoon in October of 2003. At that time there were new managers (they were actually on our plane on the way over) and they were exceedingly friendly and so warm and always around during cocktail hour, very friendly, accomodating, and quite patient. The owner was the most wonderful man and actually bought us (and another couple) a great bottle of wine one night for dinner. We met some of the most wonderful people both staff and guests. Our bure was just redone and so gorgeous and there were NO Cockaroaches!!! We were in Bure 4 and it was incredible, it was gorgeous and the detail was amazing. All in all it was the greatest trip and we still want to go back! So I would HIGHLY recommend it and I AM HIGH MAINTANENCE!!!! Really.... Grew up in Bev. Hills. So trust me! :)

Beautiful Setting Some Surprises
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/5/05
The location is spectacular and indeed tranquil. We were there for 4 days on our honeymoon. Loved the lounge area and appreciated the cool drinks staff immediately provided us with on arrival. The owner was unfriendly throughout our stay. Expect cockroaches. To our surprise, our room was infested with them! At $900+ Canadian we were shocked. When we attempted to speak to Management about this he just walked away? Outdoor showers were fun though. Surrounding beaches were not crowded and were beautiful!

Nice place, shame about the details
Stayed there for the honeymoon a few months ago. The location is fantastic, the rooms with the outdoor showers (all of them) are great. The Fijian staff are great...
BUT...
We stayed there for ten days, never once did a staff member (the people who run it) ever come and ask us how we were enjoying ourselves. Ten days was definitely a long stay there, and the owner was there most of the time, not even a hi. Food was satisfactory with hints of very good. most meals were fine. when they did the native thing (not often) it was quite good. but there was not a single meal that was outstanding. Good wine list but no real desire to dive into it as the food did not warrant it. Mosquitoes were very bad... my wife was eaten alive. this was dissapointing as there are many commercially available solutions to eradicate them in limited areas. i am not talking about blanketing the island with chemicals here... just one of those traps that puts out the CO2 that draws them in for the dining area. The bar was a nice area that was reasonably priced for beer and very overpriced for island type drinks. as such you end up paying as much on drinks as you do on food (and we are not heavy drinkers) THe meal plan was a great option... the resort should take the additional step and just add a drink plan. Make sure that you brink whatever supplies you need to the island as there is only a SMALL gift shop that is very overpriced. I do not expect bargains on a small island in the pacific, but a disposable underwater camera (snorkeling is an everyday there there) should not cost 28$ (8.50 on amazon) Overall it was an incredibly beautiful island with a very tranquil setting, i just felt that the value could have been better. Add a drink plan and be a little more attentive. Oh, and if you go there... get the honeymoon island picnic package. THey drop you off on a deserted island all alone with a cooler of food... A must do
