Nice place, shame about the details
Stayed there for the honeymoon a few months ago. The location is fantastic, the rooms with the outdoor showers (all of them) are great. The Fijian staff are great...
BUT...
We stayed there for ten days, never once did a staff member (the people who run it) ever come and ask us how we were enjoying ourselves. Ten days was definitely a long stay there, and the owner was there most of the time, not even a hi. Food was satisfactory with hints of very good. most meals were fine. when they did the native thing (not often) it was quite good. but there was not a single meal that was outstanding. Good wine list but no real desire to dive into it as the food did not warrant it. Mosquitoes were very bad... my wife was eaten alive. this was dissapointing as there are many commercially available solutions to eradicate them in limited areas. i am not talking about blanketing the island with chemicals here... just one of those traps that puts out the CO2 that draws them in for the dining area. The bar was a nice area that was reasonably priced for beer and very overpriced for island type drinks. as such you end up paying as much on drinks as you do on food (and we are not heavy drinkers) THe meal plan was a great option... the resort should take the additional step and just add a drink plan. Make sure that you brink whatever supplies you need to the island as there is only a SMALL gift shop that is very overpriced. I do not expect bargains on a small island in the pacific, but a disposable underwater camera (snorkeling is an everyday there there) should not cost 28$ (8.50 on amazon) Overall it was an incredibly beautiful island with a very tranquil setting, i just felt that the value could have been better. Add a drink plan and be a little more attentive. Oh, and if you go there... get the honeymoon island picnic package. THey drop you off on a deserted island all alone with a cooler of food... A must do
