2 reviews for New Victorian Inn Norfolk, Norfolk
Opposite Experience of Previous Reviewer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/08
I'm sitting in my room at the New Victorian Inn & Suites right now. I have to say that I've had a good experience. I was informed of a $10 pet charge on the phone when I made the reservation and no promise of it being refunded was ever mentioned. I had to call a number of motels in Norfolk before finding 2 which allowed dogs. The other charged a $20 pet fee and had a higher overall room rate. I picked the New Vic because the manager I spoke with on the phone was very patient and helpful, not because of the price. There is ample space around the motel for walking your dogs. The rooms are clean and well supplied with a fridge, microwave, iron, ironing board, and blow dryer, and wireless internet access. There's an indoor pool, hot tub, and 24 hour exercise room with sauna. To me it's your average motel with the exception of being dog friendly - which for me, is the main requirement. P.S. If you're interested in the wireless access, be sure to ask for a username and password when you check in.

we can't wait to find a different place to stay
By h.c., 03/24/08
at time of check in the lady told us that there is a 6.00 charge for our pet she said that the 6.00 would be refunded at time of checkout a staff member would check our room for any damages caused by our pet.when i went to checkout i was told that it was not refundable.also usually the breakfast area at the motel is clean and well stocked but when i was there the tables were all dirty and nothing was filled it was like a little scavenger hunt trying to find seating and food,i asked the man working if there was anything left and he seemed dissapointed theat he had to do some extra work.upon getting home i called the motel hoping to speak to the young lady who checked us in but ended up talking to "the breakfast man"who was very rude to me on the phone and would not hear my side of the story at all, when i asked to talk to a corporation in charge of the operation he stated that he was the general manager(there must not have been any other applicants at the time)but took my contact info for his boss who ended up calling my wife the next day while i was at work and made her feel like she was lying about what we were told at check-in.yeah all this over $6.00 a measley $6.00 but still money that we were told that we would be walking away with.what a dissapointment and to think we used to be loyal customers of this establishment.
