Montreal Inn, Hollywood

I stayed at this motel for a week in May. I was surprised by what we got for the price: cable tv, a full size fridge, small oven with range, cupboards and small kitchen table. Everything seemed pretty clean and neat, although there were tiny ants all over the kitchen table- an infestation which got worse as the week went on. We were also surprised one evening by a 3 inch cockroach in the bath tub, which had crawled out of the drain fixture that was hanging off the wall. From what I've heard from my florida friends (I am a michigander myself) this is pretty normal for florida. The bathroom counter had a lot of those tiny ants too, but we coexisted fine. The staff were nice. However the "bike rental" listed on their website is nonexistent. The pool and surrounding areas were clean, and we used the grills outside one night. Not too many people on the beach despite being surrounded by condos, which was nice. It's not the perfectly clean white sand that exists down the shore; it looks more like a real beach with seashells and seaweed. There is a snorkeling buisness across the street but not really any gift shops nearby. A chinese restaurant is operated on/next to motel property (looks questionable, I didn't eat there) and there is another restaurant within walking distance. Also the county bus stops within a hundred feet of the motel about every half hour, which was convenient. Also- most important- if you arrive after 5 pm, they leave your keys in an envelope outside the office with your name on it, and the room number on the key. So, they get an F for security.
