The Grand is a beautiful looking hotel in a beautiful location. But the place is very overpriced. The rooms in the new tower are adequate, nicer than in the old tower (we stayed in both) because the old tower definitely needs updating in the rooms and hallways. The new tower rooms are not large, and the old tower corner room we had let the wind whistle in through the doors to the outside. And there was a generator or AC unit running outside all the time, so the noise was slightly annoying. The towels are very thin and cheap for a place like this, and only two. Robes are available but have to be requested.
Food in the restaurant is good but not exceptional. Rose's Pub is a meat market on the weekend, but food is good. Noisy, though. Nice little wine lounge near the pool end of the lobby.
All in all, for $100 a night less, the Best Western was a better deal, the rooms were just as large, and the beds with duvets were great. And they give you four nice plush towels in the room as well. Just not near the water.
Staff at the Grand was uniformly courteous and helpful, but so was the staff at the Best Western, so no gain there.
