not the right address
By abc, 8/25/08
Overall, the Motel is ok... once you find it. The address is not correct and nobody answers the phone after 9pm. Very inconvenient when you are lost and trying to find a place that does not even exist. And don't except any apologies from the reception the next morning! At least the room was clean... if you are not too picky. Definitively not coming back.

Making memories and feeling fine!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/08
We found the Captains Quarters last year when we decided to run off for a couple of days. It was fun, a great deal, excellent location, and made us wish we were staying longer. So, this year rolls by and we hadn't made any kind of vacation plans. Kids have programs, camp, etc and we're just squeezing things in. Then I got an email from CQ and decided - we're going back and we'll do a few more days no matter what we have to rearrange. Made our reservations, got a great deal with a special rate that let us stay for twice as long this year for the same cost. Brought the bikes this time so we could ride the trail (very convenient access - they even put us in a room up next to the trail). Close to Nauset and Marconi - spent time at each. Quick run up to P-town and just sorry we missed the Carnival. Wandered around the Audobon wildlife sanctuary in Wellfleet, flew kites, ate well, and had an absolutely wonderful time again. The motel is clean, comfy and just what a motel should be. If I want a hotel and the big city feel I'll go to a Sheraton but the comfy cozy feel of the Captains Quarters brought back memories of our own childhood while making new ones for the kids. Everything was clean, the service was great, and location excellent. The water is hot and the wireless let me keep in touch with the office at night. Sitting in my jammies with the cool breezes coming in the window and feeling sorry for the folks back at the office...what's better than that? :-)

Find another place to stay
By Hrundi V. Bakshi, 7/23/08
We visited a number of locations in our recent trip through New England. While on Cape Cod one place we stayed at was the Captain's Quarters Motel and Conference Center. I wouldn't go back. The room was nice enough and everything appeared to be renovated and well-maintained, both in the room and the grounds. But... The beds were somehow too short - how they did that or why was not clear. They were only moderately comfortable, and the pillows were as flat as if they had been run under a steamroller. The alleged wireless internet was not available in our room - we were apparently too far from the wireless router. On sale you can get a decent router for $50, so why there weren't multiple routers on location I will never understand. So, I sat the parking lot close to the office, or at a picnic table in the pitch black of night - until my battery ran out - so that I could use the internet. I'm glad it didn't rain. The front page of their website proclaims that they have a hot buffet breakfast. We were looking for bed and breakfast type accommodations, so this sounded like a winner. Shame on us for not digging into their website to find that it was $7.99 a head. There were four of us. $32 for a motel buffet breakfast? I think not. If you stay there, go a mile south to the light, turn left, and right next to the post office is a wonderful little mom and pop store called Village Green General Store with great breakfast sandwiches. It's a much better deal. The bathrooms were small and had no exhaust fan. It was humid after a shower, and, well, there's another problem with bathrooms that have no exhaust fan... and it affects all the room occupants. Finally, there was the tip envelope for maid service. Add it up... nearly $160 (including tax) a night for the room without internet, add on another $32 for breakfast for 4, and you're up to $192! Add more if you leave a tip. Compare that to one of the nice Marriott chain hotels we stayed at in Boston for $87+tax per night... a full suite with two beds, two televisions, a sofa and a couch, a desk and kitchenette, a large bathroom (with a fan!!!), wired high speed internet in the room, hot buffet breakfast included in the price (and it was quite a spread of food at that!), exercise room, pool and spa, very clean and well kept, and... no tip envelope stuck in our face.

Got $25 charge for what we did not do
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/3/07
Our stay at Captains Quarters was nice until we received the credit card bill. Turns out that we were charged for $25 extra and that charge was not initially in the bill we received from the hotel when we checked out. So we called the motel to inquire, and the front desk, or whoever received our call, simply told us that a clock was missing. We did not even remember there was a clock in our room to begin with, and was patiently trying to inform her that. All she was saying is that SOMEONE HAS GOT TO PAY FOR THAT CLOCK!!! Alright, so I guess that someone is us. So unprofessional. So the bottom line is, if you do not want to get charged for a missing clock, bed, mattress, lamp, or whatever that's supposed to be in the room, try to avoid this place AT ALL COST. Because that's how they do their business. To the motel management: next time you might want to give your customers a checklist of any items in the room.

nice place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/07
This was a real cape cod escape. It was a great place to relax. Even though it is older it is well kept and the staff was friendly. Even the guests seemed to get to know each other at breakfast.

Bare Bones
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/07
Stayed for three nights on Memorial Day weekend. Motel is in a good location, near beaches, etc. Rooms are clean but had a funny smell from what might have been new carpet. Staff was not good about replacing towels - we were always at least one towel short throughout our stay. Interior of rooms is older - this is a 'bare bones' kind of place - definitely not a resort. Rooms have 2 double beds, small fridge, small table and 2 chairs, bathroom shower/tub and toilet and separate sink in bedroom area. Front desk staff was not very customer-service oriented. Continental breakfast only consisted of juice, coffee, cereal and mini-bagels - not a very good selection. Outdoor pool is small and not heated. Basketball court is nonexistent. Bike trails are very convenient-right behind hotel. There are picnic tables around the property for guest use but no grills. Not a bad place to stay if you are not particular about decor (very 1970s/80s) but rooms are large and clean.

Comfortable lodging, unfriendly staff!
By John, 8/29/05
Very comfortable lodging, close to National Seashore beaches, Eastham restaurants and bike trail; Pool area gets a lot of traffic noise and could use more chairs (several were in disrepair); For the price we felt that the front desk staff could have been friendlier and more helpful; ie: They were unable to answer questions regarding transportation, bike route (which the property abuts) and simple requests were met with abruptness and poor attitude.
