Exceeded Expectations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/09
Although the cabinets are a little outdated, I have not been able to find a equivalent timeshare in Hawaii that has the kind of space that the Bay Club has. You can survive with just using the trolley, but if you wanted to go to the nearest supermarket or Costco, you definitely should rent a car. There's ample parking (free!) and the staff is very pleasant. I will definitely return back to the Bay Club and so will my other family members.

Up and Coming Facility
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/09
Active plans will vastly improve the facility. However, don't plan on playing on the adjacent golf courses as you receive no break on the expensive green fees. If you belong to Hilton's vacation plan you receive a little help but not much. Plan to play on courses other than the Kings and Beach courses at Waikoloa

They have given up.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/07
We traded with RCI for this unit. We traded two weeks of Crown Emerald status for one week of Gold status (we were not aware that it was Gold status, we thought it was Emerald) and were very disappointed with the place in general. The kitchen was dirty eg, the cabinets greasy. The bathroom was also dirty, the tub had a ring around it and the faucets really need replacing. We had only 20 minutes during our week when a cleaning was provided. She did minimal cleaning, not worth what we paid for. The pool is small and the patio furniture covered in paint and filthy. They really need to buy new pation furniture. The two spas near the pool were cold, and the one inbetween building 2 & 3 was so hot nobody could sit in it. Also, they were constantly trying to sell time-share to you. We found that very frusterating. We will not go back and want others to know so that you don't waste any precious vacation time and money on this location.

Great Resort
By JamesO, 10/8/07
This is a great resort! Friendly staff, great facility, I love it. It is in a resort community so everything is expensive and the activities outside of the resort are all in Kona or Hilo. Things are cheaper down there too.

Better than a hotel but average as condo
By patrick k, 8/7/07
We are Hilton Grand Vacation Club owners. The two bedroom/two bathroom groundfloor unit we occupied during Christmas 2006 was spacious enough for 3 adults and 2 children and full of amenities like a washer/dryer and full kitchen. The concierge's dilligence made our stay entertaining and her great driving directions made the apparent isolation of the Bay Club less felt. The facilities of the Hilton Grand VAcation Club were more than adequate if we didn't want to go out too far. However, areas within our unit like the floor, the bathrooms and kitchen, were a bit nasty--as in old and dirty. Specifically, the bathrooms had a strong mildew smell and the drains on both shower/baths would take a good 15 minutes to drain--after your shower ended. The white plastic shower curtains had visible dark growth along the bottom edges. The grout and caulk had missing and black areas. The painted wood kitchen cabinets, circa 1980, had been cleaned but were sticky on the doors and a hanging off kilter. Carpets in the high traffic areas were discolored with stains. We didn't complain about the carpets (its not like they could rennovate right then), but I tried to get something done about the bathrooms and they said they were as clean as they could get them. I just had the children try not to sit or touch anything when bathing. I realize it's not like we were going to move in there permanently, but these grungy details made our stay feel quite a bit less than like a Hilton.

I look forward to every visit!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/07
I am an owner at the Bay Club in Waikoloa and have been since 1996. My husband and I stumbled upon it when our travel agent mistakenly booked us into it without realizing it was a time share. We bought a share and have never looked back. Now divorced, my ex and I decided to keep the timeshare and now we alternate years. Both of us love it and are glad we didn't give it up. True, you need a car; true there isn't a beach there; true it can be expensive to dine in the resort hotels, but....all these things I happily work around because I'm in a hot, sunny, beautiful resort surrounded by palm trees. The staff at the Bay Club are wonderful - the units are great, and the amenities desk will hook you up with just about anything you want to do. What's not to love? I'm heading back in May with my sister-in-law - yippee!!

Picture Perfect
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/06
The Bay Club was beautiful to see w/lush greenery and palm trees all around. We stayed a week and loved it. Our room? Not quite 5 stars but very nice overlooking the golf course w/mountains in the background. The pools? Kinda small but like the rest of the island not crowded at all. The resturants on the resort? Very expensive, but this is Hawaii!! Plan on seeing the sights? You will need to rent a car, after all this is the "Big Island". We drove a 1/2 day one day and all day another to see scenic overlooks, waterfalls, rainforests, a black sand beach and volcanoes national park. A-Bay(a salt-n-pepper sand beach lined with palm trees and shade) is only 1 mile away. Great snorkeling spot. Hapuna beach,(beautiful white sand but no shade) about 5mi. Kilua-Kona is 20mi. There you'll find a lot of reasonably priced resturants.

Great place, but no beach
Overall a good timeshare. We're owners with Hilton Grand Vacation Club, which manages the resort. They're building their own right next door, and people staying at the Bay Club have use of the pools at the HGVC resort, but NOT use of the Hilton facilities down the road (you do if you stay at the HVGC resort). We stayed in one of the 2BR units in the Villas. Very spacious, clean, and comfortable. We had a ground floor unit so had a backyard (we were on the golf course) for the kids. Not much to do in Waikoloa Beach Resort itself. There is one beach (A-bay) which isn't that great, and you have to drive or take a shuttle to it from the Bay Club. Hapuna Beach state park is about 5 miles up the road, and a MUCH nicer beach. There are a handful of restaraunts in Waikoloa Beach Resort, but driving down to Kona offers much more selection (and a 30 min drive). Overall, nice facility, but not much to do without getting in the car and driving.

Everything You Need
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/6/06
We read reviews prior to booking, so had anticipated average décor, amenities, etc. Overall the resort exceeded our expectations, I only wish it was within walking distance to the beech. The room was great, very spacious (fit 6 adults comfortably). View of the golf course was good, as was being near the pools and BBQ. We BBQ’d for most meals and packed lunches in our coolers for road trips and beech snacks. We had to drive about 5mins to the beach and Kona was about a 20min drive. When you arrive they give great information on all the things to see & do on the Island – waterfalls, valleys, the volcano, rainforest areas, fishing, snorkeling, etc. The pools were small, but sufficient. There was always a lawn chair and plenty of towels. There wasn’t really a night life (can go to the other Hilton resort for that which is walking distance) and it was very quite at the resort, day and night. We really enjoyed this and never felt crowded or rushed.

We can't wait to return to our home away from home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/05
We LOVE the Bay Club!!!!! My husband and i were married on Maui at Makena beach cove on september 12, 1996. Well, my sister had just gotten engaged and came to Hawaii to be our maid of honer and best man and it turned out to be a double wedding! Thank goodness i made preperations with my wedding coordinator just in case they decided to get married also. It was a BEAUTIFUK ceramony! Back to the Bay club, 3 day's before our wedding , our 1st day on the islands we stumbled on to purchasing timeshare at the Bay club. We litterally finished signing our paperwork 30 minutes before taking our vows. The sales lady, Cindy B. set us up with a limo driver Rich, who got us to our wedding on time, then took us to Pacifico's for our wedding dinner. We loved every second of our stay on the islands! Then we returned the following year with my two grown children to the Bay club and fell in love all over again. Our two weeks at the Bay Club could not have been better! We have been back every other year for our anniversary's, we just can't say enough wonderful things about the bay club,we just LOVE it there! And i am very happy to say we will we leaving Phil. Pennsylvania on thursday heading to our Bay Club for our 9th anniversary. and my son and his girlfriend will join us for our second week in which he will be poppping the BIG question to the love of his life. And yes the rooms are beautiful, the service can't be beet, and the location couldn't be better! Sincerely, Mary Begley-Schmid ALOHA
