My daughter Kate was stranded in the Atlanta airport with her cat, late evening March 22, 2007. They had left Seattle that morning. She was to have arrived in Charleston, South Carolina via Cincinnati. Kate phoned me to say that she was off-loaded in Atlanta. I was standing in Seattle.
I phone my friend who search online for hotels near the Atlanta airport, the search lead Super8. Rose answered the phone. Here is how the conversation went:
Super8 Atlanta, my name is Rose.
Hi, Rose my name is Sue, I am standing in Seattle, my daughter and her cat have been stranded, by Delta Airline, in the Atlanta airport. Does your hotel have a room, and do you allow cats?
Yes I think I can help, just give me a minute to check. Yes, I have a room for her.
She is traveling with her cat.
Yes, she can have the cat in the room with her. What is your daughters name?
Rose will she need a taxi? No ma'am, I can send the shuttle for her and she can take the shuttle back to the airport in the morning.
Rose then gave me direction for Kate to get to the airport shuttle pick-up area.
I asked Rose, Is the hotel in a safe area; will Kate be safe in the hotel?
Yes, she will be safe here. Just tell Kate to use the Super8 hotel phone at the shuttle pick-up. I will answer the phone when she calls and I will be at the desk when she gets in the door.
Within, 30 minutes my daughter was phoning me from her room in the Super8 Atlanta Airport hotel. Kate said, It was like I already knew the lady at the desk.
Rose was just doing her job.
Yes, perhaps. For me, Kate, the cat, my friend on the computer and Kates boyfriend in Charleston, Rose was very reassuring, helpful, kind, and totally put a great finish on what had been a very long and trying day.
Thank you Rose!
