An aging lady showing her age
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/07
We've beem Vacation club members since 1993, and while we still love the grounds and out of the way feel of Old Key West , the accomodations themselves are beginning to show their age. We stayed in a Grand Villa in October 2006, and the first thing we noticed when checking in was accumulations of mold on the wall vents. Unsightly, to say the least, and a health hazard, as well. We just returned from an eight day stay in a one bedroom vacation home, and upon entering noticed a very musty, unpleasant odor. There was some black mold in the shower stall and tiny little bugs would appear on the bathroom vanity each day. The panels on the doors had layers of dust, the carpeting was stained and the furniture seemed in need of a good cleaning. We will continue to stay there because as members we get the most "bang for our buck" there, but I would be very disappointed to pay a nightly rate of hundreds of dollars for accomodations such as these.
