Welcome home!
We just got back from our 2nd trip within 13 months to Disney and stayed again at Old Key West. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo and had a blast. Our room looked over one of the greens of the golf course. The room was great. The only negative I have to say was that the beds in our room were hard and uncomfortable. What I will say is that every other time we have stayed there, we never ran into that issue. I have stayed there between 5-7 times and would stay there again. If it is a nice night out, make sure to take the boat over to Downtown Disney. It is very scenic and was fun! I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone!!!

Great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/08
Stayed at Old Key West in August 2008. The grounds are very well maintained. Mature trees, bushes, etc make for a very relaxing atmosphere. Transportation to get to the parks is a breeze. I was surprised to find out that the resort was built in 1991. It was very clean, our room (a 1BR villa) was very large and well maintained. The onsite restaurant is ok. The multiple pools is very good feature. We were very close to the Turtle Pond area pool and it was always quiet when we were there. Definitely would go back to this resort. One of the best I've stayed at. Renting a room outright is very expensive but we used out timeshare to get in and it cost us less than one night's stay at their normal rental rate.

won't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/1/08
We had a studio unit in one of the older buildings without an elevator. We were promised 3 times by DVC that we would have either a 1st floor unit or one in bldg with elevator as stairs can be difficult. Were assigned to a 2nd floor unit anyway. Studio has no DW, so only paper plates, cups, bowls & plastic utensils were provided. Had small microwave, but no cooking surface. Also had small refrigerator. Small balcony with 2 plastic chairs & small side table. 2 queen beds with no sofa or living area. 2 side chairs in room had torn plastic coverings. Rugs were REALLY filthy! Do have to say bathroom was nice size. We will not return as we have stayed in many nicer timeshares.

Large rooms, showing age- but away from the masses ! Great location- close to downtown disney. Good resort for families with kids. Restaurant on site is so-so- nothing special.

The Original Disney Vacation Club
By Kevin F, 3/3/08
Old Key West was the original DVC resort. The resort is huge. The decor is relaxing and nice. Probably the best part about the resort is that there are multiple pools. Perfect if one pool was packed. The restaurant is nothing special. The arcade is ok, but the arcades at Wilderness Lodge, POP Century, and Port Orleans Riverside are much better. The rooms are spacious. Old Key West doesn't have any special transportation to anywhere, so a car or buses are the only way.

By JJL, 1/30/08
I loved this place because it is built to support the attraction for the Keys on southern Florida is in Orlando. The service is great, i am a disney vacation club member and they treat you like kings and queens, and your directly in the middle of all the great disney theme parks. This is truely where dreams come true.

no magic here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/07
Poor service (slow and rude) Dirty rooms (floors were filthy) We expected more for the price we paid for the 2 bedroom villa. Not recommended. Stayed at Coronado Springs last time and it was much nicer for less money.

An aging lady showing her age
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/07
We've beem Vacation club members since 1993, and while we still love the grounds and out of the way feel of Old Key West , the accomodations themselves are beginning to show their age. We stayed in a Grand Villa in October 2006, and the first thing we noticed when checking in was accumulations of mold on the wall vents. Unsightly, to say the least, and a health hazard, as well. We just returned from an eight day stay in a one bedroom vacation home, and upon entering noticed a very musty, unpleasant odor. There was some black mold in the shower stall and tiny little bugs would appear on the bathroom vanity each day. The panels on the doors had layers of dust, the carpeting was stained and the furniture seemed in need of a good cleaning. We will continue to stay there because as members we get the most "bang for our buck" there, but I would be very disappointed to pay a nightly rate of hundreds of dollars for accomodations such as these.
