Goodwin Hotel, Hartford

Perhaps you've noticed that the Goodwin went out of business about a year ago?

The service at this hotel was exceptional. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Food was excellent. Rooms and public areas are clean and tastefully decorated. I will make it a point to stay here again.

The Goodwin is a great place to stay all around. Everytime we come to Hartford from NYC we stay there whether it be for a UConn BBall game or a family event. The service is amazing from the valet to reception to housekeeping. The staff at the Goodwin always goes above and beyond with a personable manner. Great location in downtown Hartford, you can easily walk to tons of restaurants and bars, as well as the Civic Center. The rooms are enormous, each one is different and the beds are ridiculously comfortable. Only complaint I can think of is on weekdays, the interior rooms can be noisy. This is easily remedied by requesting a 'quiet room' or one on a higher floor.

Nice hotel. Service was good, the room felt clean and comfortable. Wish it had a mini bar or at least complementary coffee & bottled water.

I made a reservation at the hotel...and now I regret it. I talked with the front desk about my reservation and couldn't understand a thing the woman said to me. Rude is all that I can say.

The hotel is very well maintained considering its age. The room was very clean with a eye to the details. The one complaint I had during my stay was that the sparkling water advertised on the Room Service menu was not offered any longer. I really love VOSS sparkling water. My stay was quite comfortable. I will and would stay there again.

This hotel is all about the service. Everyone is extremely nice and completely concerned with you having a perfect time. We liked it so much we're going back this year ... to get married!

We recently booked the Goodwin Hotel for our daughter's wedding reception with several rooms for ourselves and guests to stay overnight both before and after the wedding. The reception was just as promised and more, as the food,music,coordination,and waitstaff were fantastic!However,as wonderful as those things were, our check-in,greeting and availability of our rooms was absolutely horrible. We were promised early check-ins for the bride,her party,my wife and I to get ready.When we arrived we were told that check-in was at 3 PM and that we would be allowed in at that time (wedding was at 2PM in Glastonbury,Ct),which when we informed them of,did not seem to matter.After many trips to the front desk and a very rude calls with the desk,I approached the manager after which "AMAZINGLY" 3 rooms became available.We had been trying since 7 AM(the time they told us to come in),to get the rooms promised to us the night prior by the hotel.By the time we finally got the rooms (after noon),the photographer had shown up with neither my wife, many attendants and myself not anywhere ready,needing showers and to get dressed.Many of our guests have since told us that the reception was very beautiful but at the same time,they had experienced the same rudeness with the front desk people. This wedding was for 148 people which we had thought they would be a little more accomodating for so that guests could check in quickly and attend the reception.We were very happy with the reception but could not have been more disappointed with the welcome that we had with the front desk people.The rooms were a little expensive for the conditions of them.Definitely would not recommend this hotel if your looking for a warm,friendly and efficient welcome.

very bad location and bad food bad service all the way aroud. People to snooty for me and the bar dricks were very week. I will never recommend this hotel
