Not up to Hilton Standards
e stayed there for three nights in June to celebrate my birthday and I was disappointed with this hotel.
Positives:
-Great view. We were on the 35th floor of the new,(taller) tower and had a great view of the American and Horseshoe falls.
-The room was clean.
-It has a nice heated indoor pool.
Negatives:
-Check-in was disorganized. I am a Hilton Honors member and as a result get priority check-in. However there was one little sign at the front desk indicating where Hilton Honors members should check in and most people were not aware of it. They also needed more people at the front desk. For this big a hotel, they need more people staffing the desk.
Parking was $25.00 per day. However you can park in the nearby casino lot and pay $5.00.
-There were maintenance issues with our room.
-The door did not close automatically
-We had an issue with the knob on the jacuzzi.
-Most of the channels on the tv in the front room did not work, (they worked on the other tv)
-The front room was very cold even when when we turned the thermostat off.
-The hallway was cold and there was a breeze blowing into our room. We had to put a towel down at the doorsill to block the cold air.
-There was a bottle of water in the room with a tag on it that said it was available for $4.95 if you wanted it. Really? When I am paying a lot for a hotel room and a member of your honors program, I dont need to be nickeled and dimed.
-The elevators have issues. Besides being slow and inadequate for the number of people that are there, they had maintenance issues. One ride was memorable where we got on the elevator to go down to the lobby and when the elevator got to the 20th floor, it went back to the top of the building again. It did it several times until someone just held the buttons and the elevator finally went to the lobby.
-As a surprise for my birthday my wife ordered cheese, crackers and fruit plus a Happy Birthday balloon delivered to the room. The food was delivered without the balloon. The food was adequate but nothing special (standard crackers, slices of cheddar, cheddar/colby, and swiss). We estimated we could have gone to a supermarket and picked up what was served for about $25, about a third less than what we were charged.
Hilton is a top brand that we pay a premium for, clearly we did not get what we paid for at this stay. With taxes out stay was almost $250 per night for three days. I would say that the room was worth about $125 per night with a $125 per night premium on it for a falls view. We will not stay here again and cannot recommend it.
