Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui, Ko Samui

With the entire world to choose from, my wife and I have just returned from 21 nights in Koh Samui at Amari Palm Reef Resort. Nothing remarkable about that except we have returned there each of the past 6 years. Prior to experiencing Amari Palm Reef we had tried two other resorts and rejected both of them. Perhaps mention should be made that we are 84 and 83 years of age. When we arrive at the Resort we are met by outstretched arms and a warm welcome to our second home. The warmth of that welcome never diminishes. The smiles never dim. Everyone - receptionists, gardeners, restaurant staff, pool attendants and top management greet us in true confirmation that this is the Land of Smiles. Many before us have praised the standard of accommodation. Trust those opinions. There are a range of options and the staff are very willing to ensure you get rooms that fit your needs. We book a deluxe room surrounded by manicured gardens and flowers and we live in sheer delight - always dreading the dwindling days remaining of our precious annual holiday. It could never be long enough. We are very experienced international travellers, with multiple visits to about 50 countries. The service in most of them has been very acceptable - yet we could not name one staff member in any of them. At Amari, we could nominate 10 by name with great affection but we will not do so because all others contribute to our comfort every waking hour. The secret of success at Amari is its wonderful staff. Two restaurants provide the food and drinks at Amari. Merante restaurant, overlooking the sea, is the venue for the best buffet breakfast most of us are likely to experience. At night, start with happy hour, 2 generous cocktails for the price of one. Then proceed to an ambience of excellence - immaculate staff and a different dining experience nightly. The lights that illuminate the trees and the pool provide a perfect backdrop for an enchanting evening. Two hundred metres away is Koh Samui's success story - Pregos Italian Restaurant - part of Amari Palm Reef facilities. This is a unique place - very open and airy, where you can see the pizzas being cooked in great variety. The menu is extensive - the food and presentation 4 or 5 star - surely. A team of immaculate staff tend to the guests calmly and well and the full house sign turns over several times, most nights of the week. This is a living tribute to Chef Marco Boscaini who created Pregos and who cares for his guests impeccably. There is no need to leave the grounds of Amari for food. Our conclusion is that you will not improve on Merante and Pregos. We have tried to find other alternatives and always conclude we are better served right at Amari Palm Reef. It is our pleasure to issue this strong testimonial to a Resort that consistently delivers great pleasure to people of all ages. Children clearly love at Amari and at the other end of the scale - so do we.

My wife and I have been going to Samui since 2003 and this will be our 4th year at the Amari,which,I think, speaks volumes. We absolutely love the hotel.The staff are wonderful,so friendly, nothing is too much trouble.The rooms are spotlessly clean and the gardens and poolside areas are immaculate.We tend to stay in the 'thai village'area which is quieter than the main hotel area across the road next to the beach.There is a wide range of food styles available and if you wish to walk the short distance into Chaweng(approx 1/4 mile)there are so many different bars and restaurants it's hard to know were to start.In our opinion, there is nowhere better to stay!!!

I lOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.The food the bars.Sights i can not think of anything that i did not Enjoy.It was an amazing experience and it is like Heaven on Earth. Thank you all for making our Honeymoon so memorable.We will never forget it

The service was second to none in every aspect of this hotel. The freindliness of the stafff without being obtrusive. We were in the Deluxe (lovely large rooms)side on the opposite side of the road dont let that put you off it was great and a little quieter around the pool. 24/7 lollipop boys no chance of getting you run over. The Breakfasts were better than I have had in any five star hotel. The massage on the beach was great especially turning left out of the hotel some ladies set up under the trees first ones you see FANTASTIC! The restaurant was just lovely the meals we had were on special package which we were offered 3different type ie Fish night Western night and Thai night you could use those voucher on any night good value and the presentation was wonderful. The towels fit the loungers no chasing them up and down the seat. We were there from 20 September - 29 September it was so relaxing. The Taylor in the resort I was never so disgusted definately not one I would recommend. Plenty of good restaurants. I am sure that you will enjoy the experience. I looked on this site before we booked a hotel and the reviews were so good we changed from one of the other hotels and I'm so glad that we did. It was the first time we had looked at any reviews but it wont be the last. Thankyou to those who like me have taken the time to share your views. We come from Australia originally the UK and feel that this resort would suit most people.

I spend a lot of time in hotels so I feel that i am qualified to make a judgement. Rarely have I felt so really well in a hotel. This was one hotel that did everything right without going over the top. The value for money, friendliness, cleanliness and service were very good.

I recently stayed at Amari Palm Reef resort it has excellent staff that are freindly and very helpful. I came home on the 7th August 2005. A great member of staff is Jatuphon, he is a great asset to the Hotel. It is easily my favourite hotel on the island. The rooms are great and the beach is calm where as further up it is loud and plays dreadful goth rock music. It has a wonderful restaurant 'Prego' it is delicious and so is the 'Messerati' where you have a gorgeous breakfast in the mornings. The hotel also has great access to market stools further down the road where i purchased 23 DvDs and 6 Playstation games. The hotel also holds a beautiful spa that is relaxing and exotic. It is the best hotel i have ever stayed at and i hope people will have the decency to do it proud. It deserves good care and once again thankyou to all of the staff.

I have been there in September 2000. Even today i remember the excelency of that hotel and staff. It was a great time. Specially in these days i feel the need to say something... John ( Portugal)
