WOW - a warm Doubltetree Cookie at check in. Friendly staff. Good food in the Bigelow Grille and my favorite the complimentary hotel shuttle. This hotel has everything you need travelling with kids. We'll be back!

Worst hotel I've ever been to!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/11
My husband and I arrived for check-in at 3:20 and didn't get our car parked until 5:10! Totally unacceptable! There was a big concert at the Consol Energy Center, but the hotel should have planned for it accordingly. We missed our reservation at the Bigelow Grille. We told the front desk and they acted like they didn't care. We called the restaurant and told them we were waiting to park at the hotel but they refused to move our reservation. Instead, we ordered room service. It was very overpriced and the food wasn't good. We ordered a sandwich, chicken tenders/fries, and 2 cans of pop for $33. The tray was left in the hallway for over 6 hours before we called the front desk requesting they send someone to get it. They were rude - like we were bothering them. Our "view" from the 4th floor overlooked the roof of the Bigelow Grille and the hotel's heating unit. You couldn't see anything else from our window. The room was very small. The only positive comment and can make is that the room was very clean. I definately would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Welcome Home (former) Pittsburghers
By Christopher, 6/1/08
This was a great place to stay. Although the rooms are pretty small, the place was very comfortable. The doorman was great at accomodating us for an evening ball game. Kids loved the cookies, backpacks and the friendliness of the staff. The meals were very good also eating at the hotel for breakfast in the morning. This is defintely a return to place for staying in Pittsburgh. Although I wonder about staying downtown, it's a great location if you need to get around the city.

Super place!
By Mimi, 1/29/08
We came here for a business meeting at the Omni. The majority of our group was at the Omni and I felt bad for them - small rooms, dark halls. Our room was wonderful - large, roomy, light - and what comfortable beds! Restaurant staff efficient and food was great! Our co-workers were jealous that they didn't stay here - that says it all! Will recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Pittsburgh!

Small room poor service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/06
Our room was odly laid out with a bathroom that was so small it did not even have a counter to set your toiletries on. The service at the front desk was horrible, and the bed was so uncomfortable that you could barely sleep. They were having a problem with the internet service and after complaining they sent someone to my room much later to fix it after I was already in bed. I am a Hilton Honors member and stay at Hilton hotels over 50 nights per year. This was one of the worst for a DoubleTree, usually the lower level Hampton Inns are all nicer than this place. Better off to take a chance on any other hotel in the area

I could not wait to complain about the bad service!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/05
Hotel is under reconstruction as it has been sold to another Hotel chain (Hilton?). So, no interest in providing a good service. As soon as we checked in, we were informed that they could not respect what was written in the Yahoo reservation. "they always have the wrong and old information about the hotel....". So, although I have reserved for two queen beds I was (after discussing the issue for some time...) give a two double beds suite. One more example of bad service : TV remote control did not have batteries, there were never provided although it was requested at least three times... Not a big deal...But again no interest in giving service to people who are sharing with them lag of confort provided by the construction going on....

Shocking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/04
I had the misfortune to stay here on a recent business trip. Was allocated a smoking room despite requesting non-smoking. The carpet outside the lift was bizarrely covered in plastic giving it the feel of a crime scene and the service at the front desk made Fawlty Towers look like the Mandarin Oriental. If you can, stay over the way at the Westin.
