Description

Overlooking the Saigon River, the French colonial-style Hotel Majestic Saigon is approximately five miles from Ho Chi Minh City Airport. This location is also one mile from Notre Dame Church and Ben Thanh Market and six miles from Chinatown. During World War II, the Japanese Imperial Army used this French colonial structure as a military barracks. During the Vietnam War, it was frequented by foreign correspondents and espionage agents. Opened in 1925 as the citys finest abode, the hotel has gone through several reincarnations over the years, changes that reflect the tumultuous history of Vietnam. The hotel amenities include the swimming pool, inner courtyard, coffee shop, gym, sauna, massage services, and restaurant. The hotel also offers valet laundry service, airport shuttle service, babysitting, a business center, and 24-hour room service. All rooms feature hairdryers, minibars, telephones, safes, and cable TV.

Couldn't Be Better
By Robert, 3/28/08
We had a wonderful experience during our stay & highly recommend this hotel. This colonial hotel still has plenty of life left in her & is our hotel of choice for Saigon/HCMC.

luxurious and amazing
By lana h, 5/5/07
the majestic hotel overlooks the saigon river and is nearby many attractions that hcmc offers! in the mornings, they have huge buffet-like breakfast that includes basically every aspect of vietnamese food: pho, noodle dishes, fruit, etc. the room was very, very nice. complete with comfy beds, a fridge, microwave, coffee-maker, laundry service, marble bathroom!, a/c, and lots more! the hotel also includes many features: internet connection, spa, fitness center, bar, restaurant, pool, etc. i would definitely recommend it to anyone!

The "French" hotel in Vietnam
Congratulate Majesric Hotel to reach the highest class as the first 5-star state-owned hotel in Vietnam. The Majestic is one of the oldest hotel & considered as French's home in downtown Saigon. It makes an impression for tourists with charming beauty & elegance. This is an uasual stay of Western tourists, especially most of them come from magnificent France.

Spotty Experience
By Kenny, 10/30/06
Due to my itinerary in June of 2004, I had the opportunity to check-in to the Majestic on three different occassions over a two week period. The hotel is a stunning example of well renovated 1920s French architecture. The resturant is good (but walk down the street and stop in for a meal almost anywhere - VN food is outstanding). The location is excellent. However, room quality is definately a "pot luck" experience. My first room: Excellent. It featured large heavy wood framed sliding doors opening to an interior courtyard with view of the elegant pool. The second room: Not quite a nice. Windows opened to unpleasant view of roof ventilation. The third room: The room itself was fine, but in the morning we were awoken by an inexplicable unending loud banging sound, apparently generated by the hotel staff, from the floor above. Complaints to the front desk did not solve the problem, ruining my mood for what was otherwise a great trip. Would I stay there again? Probably not. I would go a half-block into the city and try The Grand (looked fabulous from the exterior) or The Continental. If you love historic structures: It's either The Majestic, The Grand or The Continental. P.S. I almost forgot to mention! Not one bathtub plug in all three rooms I stayed in functioned properly. Once in the "down position" I was force to pry the plugs open with a butter knife (which was provided to each room daily along with an excellent plate of fresh fruit.). Also, if you took a shower, it was impossible to stop water from draining on to the marble bathroom floor. How are these basic design problems ignored?
