Alkyon Hotel, Skiathos

I visited the Alkyon in May 2003. I was with a large group and we all thought the hotel was fantastic. The staff could not do enough to help us. The location is great - although is high season a room around the back may be an advantage. But during the quiet months it is nice to sit and watch the ferries coming and going from your balcony or terrace. Within a few minutes you are in the centre of the town, with all the tavernas and restaurants. The pool area is nice, albeit a little small. But the beach is only about 20 minutes walk away, and with so much on your doorstep you may not want to spend that much time at the pool. The airport is close, but the flights aren't that frequent - they tend only to operate a couple of days a week so we rarely noticed it.
