City Motel, Fredericton

I had business to take care of in Fredericton one Friday afternoon in January... then all of a sudden, we were hit with freezing rain and snow at the same time.. what a mess on the roads it was.. I wasn't about to dare to chance driving back to Moncton that evening; so, I checked into the City Motel.. it was great!! I really enjoyed it! :)

We were passing thru Fredericton and my husband, 1 year old daughter, and I stopped at this motel, we waited at least 10 minutes to even be waited on, then the man that waited on us, would not allow me to pay cash for our room, so I provided him with my credit card. I told this man that I would hold the room to my credit card but I wanted to pay cash for our room. The man who waited on us took my credit card and threw it on the counter and the man told me if you wont let me use it all you have is a peice of plastic, and refused to help me any further. This man has horrible customer service, and I would not reccomend this Motel to anyone.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we stayed at City Motel on our way back home. We had a bad experience/impression of this motel and we will NOT return again if we travel to Atlantic Canada. When we check-in to the motel, it registered us, but said our room was NOT ready. The lady is still cleaning it up and promise it will be ready in a few minutes. It was unbelievable!!!! I mean we drove a long way and my wife wasn't feeling well, yet our room was not ready. What kind of guest service is that?! We waited for 10 minutes and it was still not ready. My wife was quite sick, so the front-desk was willing to give us another room instead of the one we initially registered. I asked for 1 queen bed when I reserved online, yet the front-desk said it didn't get through. We had no choice, but to take a 2-queen bed room. So we were fine with that after all those hassels. We wen to our room, it was soo dark. The lights were dim and the linens were not appealing. Anyway, my comment about this motel is we will not return again. I am sure the price I paid at City Motel can get me a much better room, even a hotel style room because we stayed over 15 inns/motels/hotels on our honeymoon.

We went there becuase it was low cost -- imagine our surprise to find that they had very funy, exciting, interesting themed rooms -- a whole lot of them! They have Austin Powers, women's getaway (African safari) bird room, royal fmaily hunting lodge and more -- It was SO much fun! and so unexpected. Service was terrific (one of those places where the staff really does try harder) and the attached restaurant was to write home about, fun interesting and good food. My only complaint was that some hallways smelled like tobacco (though not the room.) Highly recommend it.
