Perfect hotel for families
We staid at the Courtyard by Marriott while visiting Six Flags Over Texas. It's amazing how close everything is to each other in that area. Turning around you can see Six Flags, the Texas Rangers ballpark and the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, all in one spot. Pretty cool.
The hotel is average, but many features made us quite happy. First off, the kids LOVED the pool. It's an indoor/outdoor pool that lets you swim from the inside to the outside. The pool is a tiny bit run-down, but it is still quite fun. There are towels outside and two phones that dial directly to 911. There are no life guards. The hot tub is pretty large, but the kids mostly spent their time in the pool.
We got a room with a King and a sofa pull-out bed. We have 3 kids (9, 4, and 3), and the room was plenty big enough for us. The t.v. is an older CRT type of t.v., but it had plenty of channels. The "services" section of the t.v. crashed every time I tried to access it.
The hotel has signs pointing to vending machines that don't exist. You just have to go to the front desk and buy drinks/snacks that are in a fridge next to the front desk. They served a continental style breakfast, but we didn't have time to try it. The coffee machine by the front desk was nice, and they also have computer services nearby.
One great thing about the hotel is that it is feet away from a Joe's Crab Shack that has a playground. There are a few other restaurants within walking distance, but this one was literally right outside.
All 3 entertainment venues, the Rangers ballpark, the Cowboys stadium, and Six Flags, are within 5 minutes of driving. The Courtyard by Marriott is a little hidden behind the giant Semens building, but it's only two turns to any attraction around there.
I don't think I'll stay at this hotel again mostly because we like to try out different hotels, but we really enjoyed our experience there. It was one of the only hotels in the region that took 5 guests in one room. It was also much cheaper than the other hotels we found nearby. We paid $109 for 1 night (plus tax). Overall, this hotel is definitely worth taking a look at.
