Wow . . .
By JENNIFER, 06/08/09
This place is the creme de la creme, if you know what I mean. You will find Buffy and Miffy here, sipping chardonnay, after their tennis game. Quite the spot, I must say. If you can afford, it is a luxury. Quiet, beautiful, very, very expensive!!

Beautiful but...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/08
Yes, there's nothing like private beach but for the price ($960) the room was nothing to write home about. When we entered, we almost fainted from the strong stench of mold. Nostrils were burning! Overall, service was good but little things were missed. (no spoons at breakfast table, etc). We were warned by friends that for the price, Topper's was not worth it so we skipped it. The Wauwinet is at an incredible but secluded location which means cabs and van rides every time you're hungry. If the accomodations were less expensive, we would reconsider returning. Otherwise, it is overpriced.

The location is for lovers. . .
By Madeleine, 08/28/08
Quiet and secluded is desireable, for the most part, but I was anxious for shopping and a little stimulation by noon. I am young-middle aged, and felt I'd best go back there after we'd retired. Everything was SO low-key and calm, I realized that a little overt enthusiasm and effusion isn't all bad. The staff all seemed to be off-islanders who couldn't wait to get back to civilization, and we got to feel that way ourselves.

Almost paradise...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/07
This is an excellent get away on a secluded part of the island (personally, a plus for me). Food, decor and amenities are unsurpassed on the Island. A more than helpful and knowledgeable concierge service. However, I detected a slight air of homophobia during our visit. Service attitudes on the part of housekeeping and waitstaff waned for my partner and me in comparison to male/female couple guests. Not a deterrent to our future return, but the Wauwinet could be more sensitive to this noticeable and uncomfortable flaw.

We can't wait to go back!
By Jeff, 06/24/05
I loved the hotel! It is very nice, however the location is not so good. It's a long (15 - 20 min.) drive into town. I also like The White Elephant (TWE), owned by the same company as The Wauwinet (TW) and The Jarred Coffin House (TJCH). I would recommend TWE and TW, but not TJCH. I would highly recommend the island!
