BEST WESTERN PLUS All Suites Inn, Santa Cruz

We stayed there two nights because we took the kids (5) to the Boardwalk for a good time. At check in the staff was professional, kind, and quick to check us in. The room was specious and clean. The free breakfast was great and plenty of it for all. At check out we received the same treatment. The staff was polite and quick to check us out. I recommend this place for the money. I look for the negatives and this place gave me none to talk about awesome. My family and I will return.

Had an easy check in, room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We parked our car, had a taxi pick us up at the garage for our event, very quick.The breakfast was good and there was plenty. I'm almost always satisfied with Best Western. Holiday Inn Express in Buena Park, I do not recommend.

First of all I did not like the parking garage, dark and weird set up to get in the hotel, second our room had skylights with mold growing on them and crappy blinds on them and the room smelled like mold. The bathtub drain had black particles coming up and there were strange noises coming from next door ,I think we were next to the utility room. the only good thing was the continental breakfast and costumer service was good the owners need to remodel ! Santa Cruz is a cess pool.

I called this hotel to book what would be our 4th visit there. Previously we had enjoyed the fact that they have a family suite large enough for our family. I advised that our family travels with a service dog and was told they don't accept animals, but because she is a service animal, they would allow her with a $75 cleaning charge. This in in violation of the ADA and I told them it was illegal, and that we stayed there last year with our dog with no charge. I asked to speak with the manager, who told me if I were unwilling to pay the cleaning fee, they do reserve the right to refuse my reservation. I repeated that this was in violation of the ADA and illegal. The manager then turned his story around and said the room capacity was 5 people, not 6. Interesting, because again we have stayed there with 6 people for at least the last 4 years, and I had just told the desk clerk there were 6 in our party. The manager then said the room was available for just one of the two nights.....but I had already made the reservation with the desk clerk before I asked to speak to the manager about the cleaning fee, so I know the room was available. I cancelled my reservation, but am amazed that they so callously ignore the rights of disabled people (not to mention the law!)!

The toilet when flushed sprayed water all over you, never fixed. Reception persons rude, pillows as big as a paper napkin, poor room service. Room bare, hide-a-bed uncomfortable. Not children friendly. Not worth the $125.00 per night I paid. Garage open without security cameras. Next time I will s tay closer to the beach.

Though the exterior of the hotel appears clean, the interior leaves much to be desired. Dirt and debris was visible on the hallway carpet and the non-smoking room which we were assigned originally reeked of cigarette smoke. We were upgraded to a large suite, room 233, however we discovered a major health risk in the room late that evening. A few hours after taking a bath in the non-functioning jacuzzi tub, my husband and I witnessed warm water flecked with black debris regurgitating up the drain and into the bathtub. It drained out again, but the process repeated and kept repeating for the next 2 hours. We left early the next morning and alerted the front desk, however we were given no assurances that the problem would be remedied. The only good part about the stay was having a location directly across the street from Lucio's Cafe, a delicious Italian restaurant. I do NOT recommend this hotel.

Have stayed here three times over the past 2 years; the most recent, last month, convinced me to not to stay again. The location is very good, the staff friendly, but the overall motel is becoming ratty. The carpets in the hallways were stained and threadbare in parts. On the way to our room we passed a room with a sheet covering an empty window opening. Our room was at the end of a hall near a utility rest room which had the door open the entire time we stayed there. At breakfast the young woman handling the food had her long hair hanging down, a health code violation. The room itself was good, however, although it wasn't a suite, but rather, one room with a small sitting area. In general, the facility brings down the Best Western name. A few improvements is all that's needed.
