Towers Rotana, Dubai

The Hotel was not as advertised. Beware of the extra 20% on top of your bill for all Dubai hotels. We booked on line on there own website for 2 adults 2 children and were given a room with 2 single beds. We complained and were given a larger room with one double bed and they put in 2 fold down camp beds. We were also charged an extra 50 Dhms a night. I have travelled all over the Middle East and found Dubai to be the place from Hell. Its just one big building site and the traffic is the worst I have ever been in - bumper to bumper night and day, a 15 minute drive can take 2 hours. My advice is to give Dubai a wide berth, go to Abu Dhabi instead if you want to sample this area, or better still go to Muscat in Oman. The Rotanna like all the Hotels in Dubai look great on the photo but the photo will probably be at least 1 year old and in that time 100 high rise blocks will have been built around it.

This place had a great deal where you can get a day pass to a nearby beach resort. It was like staying by the beach! The pool was nice but you have to walk to another building to get to it. There are a lot of restaurants nearby. Taxis are easy to get to. Some things, the gold market and spice market, are still far away. This hotel is great for a business traveller becasue it is on Sheik Zayed Road ( a very important street). I think that this place is very modern. You can sign up for tours and activites right in the lobby. There are some great restaurants and nightclubs in the hotel too. The internet service wasn't great but cell phone coverage was.
