Perfect for Family of Four-homey atmosphere
By equal, 6/24/10
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Staybridge in McLean, VA. It was a short, easy drive from downtown maybe 15 minutes. There were all kinds of stores, shopping, restaurants right there. We arrived at 6PM check-in was fast and front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Our son mentioned it was his birthday and they brought him a piece of birthday cake right there and then! When we arrived they were having a complimentry "happy hour" which wasn't drinks! A small offering of meatball subs that night, free soda, juices, etc, salad bar, desert. The property had a very comfortable, homey feel to it. Lots of families and single couples has well. It was in the suburbs which was nice after being downtown DC all day. It has a small pool which we didn't use. Only stayed one night but would definately stay again. The suite was smaller than other suites we've stayed but definately big enough for our family of four. Our boys 11 and 13 don't like sharing a bed anymore and there was 2 dbl beds in bedroom and a pull out queen size sofa bed in livingroom. TV's in livingroom and bedroom. Sets of doors closed between living room and bedroom. There was a kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, full fridge, plates, glasses, etc. The hotel was extremely clean, updated, nicely decorated. Every detail was nice...I looked! No stains, no crumbs. Newspaper delivery in AM, and complimentary breakfast (cold cereal, muffins, bagels, even make own homemake waffels on the waffel irons, juice, coffee). They had a nice courtyard with tables and gas grills. While a little pricey ($260/night) we would stay again. We love when we are comfortable in our hotel rooms after a long day and this hotel hit the mark for us. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and had a smile. Even the guests at the hotel were friendly. It was a great stay. Thank you to Justin at the front desk for the birthday cake! We walked a block got a pizza for son #1 and to Boston Chicken dinner for rest of us. Brought to our room and enjoyed dinner in our suite. Shower/tub and toliet closed off from sink area in bedroom which was great for showering in the AM and not waking anyone. Highly recommend this property.

$99 is NOT a lot to stay in McLean.
By Maggie-O, 7/18/09
Drive 3 minutes from the hotel and see Bobby and Ethel Kennedy's house. Shop at the Rite Aid and see General Colin Powell buying saleprice shampoo for his wife Alma. There's Dick Cheney in the candy aisle of the Giant Food Store surrounded by 4 secret service guys pretending to be ghosts. There's Newt Gingrich in his blue workshirt checking out his groceries. Go see an old toll road, now called Georgetown Pike, where all the millionaires and billionaires now live just seconds from the CIA. The Staybridge is the ONLY hotel in McLean. That's why they're always loaded with customers. But McLean is the Rodeo Drive of Washington Politics because it's only 3 miles from the D.C. Line. If you know your politicians, this is Hollywood for you. So no, $99 ain't too much.

need food in evening
By WilliamS, 4/5/07
A bit overpriced fo rthe accomodations. I arrived late and the only food available was micro-wave frozen foods. The hotel needs to have some type of fresh food available other than breakfast Based on this I would not stay here again.

Had a great time at the hotel. Very clean and friendly. Loved the mission style architecture and furnishings. Very close to the CIA and easy access to downtown DC.
