Terrible experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/12
We liked absolutely nothing about this place,Terrible smell when you enter this place,For the most part the staff could not understand english or they just didn't want to,We stayed three nights and on each of the mornings we complained about the room not being cleaned and the telephone did not work and the noise was terrible,This has got to be the worst motel in Memphis,You would be better off paying the extra money and stay somewhere else,I reported these problems to Mictrotel's corporate office but I don't think they really care either!!!

If you like Curry
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/10
This is the WORST hotel, in Memphis. Now, for those of you who are history buffs, you know that Dr. King was shot in a hotel in Memphis, so THAT is saying something. If you like incompetent staff, dirty rooms, funky sheets, and the smell of Curry waifing down the halls, then you will LOVE this place. Otherwise, well, I'm afraid you are S.O.L. Pay the extra 10 bucks, and stay somewhere else. Your stomach, skin, and sanity will thank you.

spiders, mirrors, rude manager - oh my!!!
By Elainnia D, 4/2/09
The mirrors on the walls above the bed were freaky. Felt like someone was watching us, even though you know their not - or are they? Saw two small spiders the night we checked in - one by the day, which I trapped with tp in the reducer strip at the door. The other one was in the AC unit control lid. Both of these small spiders ran for their lives. Next morning a big boy greeted us good morning. He was a brown recluse spider. This bad boys bites will rot the flesh. Upon check out I was informing the lady attendent that I wasn't happy about the spiders, when the manager got into the conversation. He was rude. I told him I was not one to complain, that I had stayed in alot of motels (just my way of describing all of them - from Hilton to Super 8), he interupted me and said They were not a motel, that a motel was a lower class establishment (but yet Microtel has spiders). He was very defensive - maybe out of quilt knowing I was right about saying I would like my money back - which he did not do. He told me if I didn't like their hotel - I could stay somewhere else. No doubt about that!!!! I did inform him even if he wasn't giving my money back - I could write a review, which I am doing. Thank you and please pick another motel, hotel, Inn and Suites, whatever, even another Microtel down the road, just not this one.

Heed the reviews - it's that bad!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/4/07
Dirty refrigerator, sorry service, no cared about any complaint. Much nicer places to stay for the money - your car is better than this place. Complained to corporate too but did no good - they don't care WHO owns franchises! Don't waste your money on this one!

No towels. No ice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/07
Got out of shower to find no bath towels in room. Had to use hand towels to dry off. Went to desk and asked for towels--it was a 20 minute wait with wet hair and then had to sign for towels as though I was adopting someone's child. Ironing board was broken. Not but one ice machine for this three story hotel. No ice at night when I checked in (9pm) and none the next morning (6am) either. No refrigerator available in the room. TV in room was like the ones at hospital where you have to flip through all the channels to go back to one that you wanted. Remote would not let you jump from one channel to the other. Pancakes on the breakfast bar on Sunday morning were so hard you could not cut them with the plastic knife. Desk clerk was the same one when I checked in, same one when I stood there for 20 minutes with wet hair, same one I checked out with and he had the same attitude on the last contact as he did on the first. He did not care if we were not happy. No apologies and no "Let me see what I can do" attitude. Believe it or not, we have stayed at this hotel the last two years but we will find another place for our trip next year.

Lesson Learned
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/06
We were coming in for a softball tournament and at the last minute had to get reservations here. We could have stayed in our car and had better service. Rooms were clean, beds were hard. No internet in the room as promised. We stayed for 2 nites and our room key was only keyed for one so we couldn't get back in our room without a visit to the desk. Elevators broke down one day and we had to carry stuff up and down 3 floors. Never anything out for breakfast except an empty coffee pot and a microwave if you brought your own food. No iron in the room as listed. Had to go buy one at Target because they wouldn't loan us one. This wasn't a $39 or $49 per nite room. For 2 nites we spent almost $200. Pitiful.

Not Recommended
By Dorothy, 11/22/05
On November 4, 2005 we stayed at the Microtel in Cordova. Wireless internet was promised. My son had to go down to the lobby and show them how to set it up. Then the next morning at 8:30 a.m. someone came to the door to clean. They came back at 10:00 to clean again (even though check out was at 11:00). When we went to check out, they could not find our registration and said we had already checked out. Finally, it was found but someone else had signed their name on our sheet, even though my name was clearly on it. Someone is not checking the IDs very well. All the man could say was mistakes happen. He wasn't going to give us a receipt, but I insisted. Would not stay there again. Felt my information was not kept very confidential. Beds not comfortable. Not a very knowledgable staff.

An utter disaster!
By Ed, 6/6/05
I wanted to complain to the corporate office, but found these hotels are franchise owned-so nothing would be corrected-a shame--our experience-weekend of may 30,05-although we reserved and guaranteed a room-a week in advance-we were told that only one room remained at check-in-a broken TV, on the 3rd floor, elevator broken down, and we found they lied to us-as they continued to check people in after us-apparently the AARP discount was enough-we were punished for requesting it-never again-Microtel-Memphis-I wish a could afford a ad in the local paper-
