Hotel Cafe Cultura, Quito

Dangerous neighborhood and missing things on my bedroom...very dissapointing.

Good little hotel with a pleasant, English-speaking staff but getting overpriced. I paid $79 plus tax in July 2008 for a single, not bad if it were nicer and offered more. Room was clean but furnishings were dated and spartan, no TV, alarm clock, tissues, or heat. They really overprice services, breakfast was good but $11, transfer from airport $10 (a taxi was less than $4), computer $5 an hour. So nice hotel with arty decor but getting over priced. Good location between nightlife area and Old City, close to the Trole.

I am surprised at all the negative comments here and from some other places regarding this hotel. I stayed there last week with my partner and some friends, and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is different and quirky with nice rooms--each one is individual. There is no heat or air conditioning, but considering Quito's year long pleasant temperatures they aren't needed. I did not find the area really dangerous--you just have to be careful and aware of your surroundings like anywhere. There are several great restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel that are worth the walk. I was most impressed with the service of the staff. They were very attentive and happy to help. The food at the hotel restaurant was also very good. I highly recommend this establishment!

We enjoyed our stay in Café Cultura. This is one of the nicest hotels (not hostal) we have stayed in, stylish, comfortable and friendly. The restaurant is one of the highlights of this Hotel; it has the most welcoming ambiance as well as the library, a great room covered with wood paneled walls …. You can have the fireplace lit while you enjoy a glass of wine!! Laszlo, the owner, personally invited us to have dinner at Café Cultura and told us everything about the history of such a wonderful hotel. There is no tv in the rooms but they are full of books that guests can take home or exchange them with the ones they already finished. They do have a TV in the library area if guests like to use it. They have good deals, discounts and special packages in their website I hope I will be back in Quito in an early future!!

Is cozy. Place is located in a walk distance from areas of interest. Rooms are confortable and people staff is very friendly
