Good and Bad
By ,
Stayed one night. what was good? bed, shower head Almond Cake. What was bad? had to park across the court yard (thats what they call it) No other buisness aroud to get food or breakfast. had to get in my car to drive to get a breakfast sandwich. Was not gonna pay the high prices for what they called breakfast. Overall nothing that was impressive enought to warrant the walk from parking or the remoteness. better values can be had somewhere else.

NOT WORTH IT
By ,
My husband and I visited this hotel for one night of our honey moon. A few days after our sta we discovered a charge of $168 on top of what we had already paid for the room was charged to our bank account. We are smokers but not heavy smokers. we stepped outside twice during our stay to smoke, we found out later the extra 168 was for "smoking in the room". Had we actually smoked in that room I would have obliged but we did not. We understood it to be non smoking and went 3 stories down to the outside when we wanted to smoke. We consider the loss a learning experience and will NOT return every year on our anniversary as we had initially planned. Save your money and stay at the reed house!

Service Decline
By ,
I am a professional and I have stayed in hotels in hotels around the world, as well as many here at home in the U.S. I stay at the Chattanoogaan about 2 or 3 times a year. The hotels has always been nice, clean and provided great customer service. However, my last 2 stays including April 15 and 16th--were not good. It appears that the service is declining. My sheets had not been changed from the last guests stay and after my room was cleaned it took a few hours and two phones calls to the front desk to get washcloths. Unfortunately, I will be choosing another hotel for my visits. Service has simply declined over the last couple of years.

Love this Hotel!
By ,
I am a professional that stays at the Chattanoogan at least one week a month. I am from Chicago so I know great hotels. This is the best ever. I have been staying here for over 4 years due to my corporate location in Chattanooga. I am a National Sales Manager traveling frequently so comfort, cleanliness and attention to detail is very important to me. I am called by name the minute I pull up to the hotel. From the valet to the housekeepers everyone is friendly and very accomodating. The food is excellent and makes this hotel one of the best in my estimation. I have never had a bad experience at this first rate hotel. I hope you experience this for yourself!

Extremely disappointed and frustrated
By ,
From the beginning, we were disappointed. A dirty room with lots of spider problems; the whirlpool was out of order, though management didn't know about it; extremely firm mattress, huge extra firm pillows we couldn't use; stopped up shower we couldn't use; and a rude and disinterested staff. We were to stay 2 nights for our anniversary; from the website, we thought it would be a luxurious romantic getaway...not so. After a sleepless night and no morning shower, we left, but the management tried to charge us more for leaving, and refused to discount our room. We drove back to Nashville, and had royal treatment at Cool Springs Marriott, where we will celebrate all future special events. What a huge difference in our treatment and the surroundings! The Chattanoogan doesn't know what customer service is...the Marriott CoolSprings excel!

Huge Dissappointment
By ,
This is hotel is not what it represents itself to be. We made reservations after reviewing many of the options in Chattanooga, and thought we would enjoy a 4 day weekend in luxury. We arrived on a Friday night, and while the employees were pleasant (expected), they did not Wow us. The parking is expensive and not convient. If we wanted a mini fridge we needed to pay an additional $10 a night, the same for a microwave. So, in addition to $175 dollars a night for a mediocre room it cost $8 for parking per day (not valet), $20 for a mini fridge and microwave-per day- and $13 per person plus tip for breakfast, and to top it off, throw a few dollars in the hand of every employee who assist with luggage, parking etc. The room itself was very dirty, there was obvious dust on all the surfaces, there was black gooey 'stuff' in the carpet, and the bedspread on the foot of the bed had an OBVIOUS stain on it. The bathroom is small and the colors and the total feel of the room was drab and ugly. We cancelled the remainder of our reservation, and choose to stay at the Doubletree (Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful). The 8 hours we spent at the Chatanoogan before making our decision to leave put a real damper on the beginning of our stay in Chattanooga. After a 6 hours car ride with great expectations for our anniversay weekend we could not have been more dissappointed, and we actually felt robbed because this establishment has spent alot more time on the substance of it's website and not near enough time on the actual experience. They really, really need to clean their rooms. Disgusting. Gross.

Not all that
By ,
This hotel defintely tries to be what it is not. The hotel is not ugly or dirty, but the lack of attention to detail let you know that there is a management problem somewhere. We were not greeted when we arrived. We were not given sufficient information about dining or where the room was. We did not know that parking in the garage was required and the only option. We were not told about the cost for parking until check in (We did not see this information online when making reservations). The jazz band stopped playing at 12:30, and we were told by phone that it would end about 1 or 2 a.m. Upon check in, we could not hear because of the band--The doors should be closed or sound proofed. We were not told to enjoy our stay or any of the other niceties that one would expect from a hotel in which we paid more than 170.00 for one night. I have traveled in Europe and Mexico as well as across the United States. I am an educator and my husband is self employeed. We are not rich, but were expecting something awesome and prettier than the norm. Our room was extremely small. We could not see the 19 inch tv from the bed. It was down too low and way too small. There were no channels. We had to pay for movies. There were no Spanish stations. Imagine that in 2008 there were no culturally diverse stations available like the Travel Channel or Telemundo. There was a candy ball under the tv left from another guest, and the curtains were stained. This hotel was definitely a disappointment for our anniversary celebration. We paid cash, left and won't be going back. For what? There was nothing at all to warrant the $170.00 per night that we paid. It was a so-so hotel with pretty painings on the wall and earthtones. That's all. We could have stayed in the Comfort Inn in a larger room, received a continental breakfast for free and treated like we were appreciated. What a let down. In this economy, this place had better watch out and learn to provide better service and rooms. By the way, we paid in cash and our credit card was still charged the amount of the room. Now we're faced with clearing up an erroneous charge to our card. When I called the hotel, they claimed the charge was pending and wasn't really charged to the account. Well, tell my bank that! What a pain in the rear to have to dispute this and show a receipt for the cash payment we made. On top of being let down, we were double charged. Never again.

Great Hotel!!
By ,
We went on a last minute trip with our kids. When I saw the lobby and how poished it was I was thinking they were more in line for business people not kids. Not at all. The staff was friendly, the rooms were nice and the breakfast at the cafe was great. Everyone was great with the kids and made it a wonderful stay.
