Great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/11
Two minute walking distance from the pier. Very historic looking. Only downside was the rooms are small, but helps you to keep in mind the era in which the hotel was built. Jane is amazing and will make sure you have everything you need during your stay. Will definitely be back!!

Enjoyed our stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/7/08
We just got back from FL and we stayed a couple of days at the Pier Hotel. Location is great (we walked to the Dali Museum and took trolley back for $0.25), parking next to hotel. Service excellent. Very interesting older style furniture/decor. Manager's happy hour was a nice touch. Breakfast abundant. It is not a new hotel, so if you want contemporary luxury, go somewhere else. We enjoyed our stay.

Great Place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/19/07
I have to say, I don't stay in small hotels like this too often, but I was soooo happy we did this time in St. Pete! Hotel was great, charming, nice decor...a real treat from the cookie cutter hotels. Staff was amazing! Kan, Jane, Tom, everyone made us feel comfortable and at home! Awesome location in downtown, parked our car for the weekend and didn't get back into it until we checked out! Everything was so close we could walk everywhere. We will be back, the jewel of downtown St. Petersburg!!

Recommended for the single traveller
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/07
As a female, single traveller, I found The Pier Hotel the ideal place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, giving advice on suitable places to eat, visit etc. The breakfast was plentiful and the 'Happy Hour' (which was really 2 hours) gave guests a chance to meet up and chat over drinks and nibbles. The hotel was clean, although the decor is looking a bit 'tired'. I would not hesitate in recommending The Pier to other travellers.

Won't Stay Again
By j, 9/8/07
I wanted to like it. I usually stay at The Vinoy. My room wasn't well cleaned. Hair on the "fresh" towels. Slight odor in room and room was really small. Bathroom was almost like a phone booth and the shower had a slow drain. I'll stay at The Vinoy next time. It's worth the extra $20. And I was a little unnerved by the parking lot late at night.

will not return
By Harold, 7/23/07
booked a few weeks in advance. upgraded to a more luxurious with microwave and refridge for an extra charge.room was on third floor. no elevators. had a window ac,windows faced a shabby building 4 ft. away. bathroom was extremely small and almost had to be a contortionist to get toilet paper.water from small stand up shower was slow.booked for 2 nites and on 2nd day discovered room had termites. manager knew exactly problem and moved us next door. that room had noisy ac. toilet seat was not fastened properly.even more contortionist for toilet paper. cleaning service told me they had same problem with termites in another room. when time to pay jane desk manager claimed ignorance to other room problem. never should have given us that room to begin with. turned a decent getaway into a hotel i would not go back to. breakfast was fine and downtown location was good. would reccommend this location downtown but check other hotels.

WE'LL BE BACK SOON
By PaulaI, 10/3/06
A wonderful February getaway from the snow in Ohio. Staff was fantastic - Manager Jane has a real gift for hospitality and everyone was very helpful! Breakfast was more than we imagined - and wine and snacks in the evening helped us wind down from our sight-seeing. Just down the street from the outdoor Mall, restaurants, movie theater, and a jump on the trolley for sightseeing. Plus the famous Pier. The rooms were small and clean, with a European feel in the design and decor, and we were very pleased. We were looking for a place to refresh and unwind, and this definitely was it. We couldn't take it all in in one visit, and can't wait to return!

An Unique Experience
By LeannL, 8/27/06
The hotel was beautifully decorated and conviently located. However, we booked a room several months in advance and asked for one on the first floor. We confirmed our choice of room, but when we arrived we were told we had a third floor room. They did eventually find us a room on the 2nd floor after giving us a key to one room which was already occupied. They also knocked some money off the price. The room was nice but didn't have the clawfoot tub or microwave, ironing board etc. The breakfast was very nice. After the first day it became quite obvious that most of the clientel was of the alternate lifestyle. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and recieved many looks of disapproval from both staff and guests that obviously were not comfortable with the traditional one man one woman arrangement. Nobody was necessarily rude to us. They just ignored us and stared. Overall I can say it was an unique experience.
