beautiful loved it
By MikeS, 02/25/09
We loved it so beautiful and you get treated so well by staff. The room was great and they even have dvd players just check and make sure what is in it before the kids turn it on our daughters found a porn movie, that was the only bad thing. The character breakfast was great and the food at the white water snacks was also good at a good price. We had the a standard room but we could see downtown disney which was awsome but my husband hated the walk from the elevators to the room it is long, very long., but worth it. we will be going back as soon as possible.

Wonderful!
By Cheri, 12/16/08
Our room was situated over Downtown Disney right above the walkway into the hotel between Libby Lu and Sephora. We had a terrific view of the fireworks from our balcony and were able to listen to the musicians who played just to the right of our room in the evenings. Once we closed the door we could just barely hear the music. Not loud enough to disturb our sleep. The room and balcony were clean and comfy. As this room is one of the farthest from the lobby, our bellhop told us of a shortcut to Downtown Disney through the service stairway just a couple of steps from our door. We never had any problem with lost or misplace luggage as some of the reviews have indicated nor was the condition of our room less than superb. We were treated wonderfully by everyone we met. The price is a bit steep and the hotel is mostly "non-Disney" themed but all in all, well worth it. We would definitely book again and either ask for the same room or possibly one floor higher. We were so busy at the parks, we never were able to find the time to use the pools so I can't comment on them but when we walked by there were just a few people using them.

Every stay has been great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/08
This was our 3rd stay. Service is always top notch. They have new 'spa' soaps and shampoos which are scented like the forest. Beds very comfy. Coffee maker which is not always a given in good hotels. You can get reasonable food at the deli. Something new for handicapped people -- they will rent the motorized scooters for $5 per day more than the Park does -- better quality and you can take them all over and into your room for the night. Well worth the price for someone who has limited mobility. Bunk beds for kids are a neat feature as well. The rooms are pricey, but compared to other hotels in the same class makes them 'reasonable'

Disappointing stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/08
We recently stayed at the Grand Californian hotel in Disneyland and after paying top dollar for what we thought to be a top notch hotel, came home covered in bed bug bites. We won't be staying there again.

beautifull architecture and embience
By David, 04/22/08
Disney's legendary attention to detail is exemplified by the architecture and theming of this hotel. Every nuance of the hotel is designed to complement the slightly over sized Californian lodge. Having visited one in Yosemite the week before I was massively impressed with the interpretation the architect created and the consistency of the theming. I would love to go back.

$78 Once in a lifetime Dream
By nathaniel, 12/02/07
You know how you always here about those unbelievable deals after the fact. Well back in September Southwest Airlines had a glitch on their website and we made our dream come true. Yes we booked the Grand Californian for four nights over thanksgiving for the unbelievable price of $78 dollars total. The service has to be one of the best that my family has ever come across. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Our three kids enjoyed the wonderful view from our room which over looked the three pools and right into the park. Location of the hotel is convenient to all your needs. My family gives this place a five star rating.

Great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/04/07
Our family will be returning to the Grand Californian this winter for our fourth stay. When I read some of the negative reviews here I am not sure they are talking about the same hotel. We have never had anything less than an amazing experience at this hotel. Check in has always been fast and accomodating. Two years ago we visited when my wife was pregnant. We were given a room with a shower and she really wanted a tub. Not only did they not hesitate to move us, they moved everything for us while we were in the park. Our rooms have always been very comfortable and clean. One reviewer here complained that their kids were given sleeping bags. I believe the hotel sees this as a novelty for the kids and goes with the lodge theme. We have requested and been given a room with bunkbeds every year which the kids love. Our room last visit looked right over the monorail track which my son thought was the coolest thing of all time. The real reason to stay here however is convienence. You are IN the park. The hotel has its own private gate into California adventure on one side and another gate right into Downtown Disney on the other. Another reviewer here claims you do not feel as if you are close to the park. It would be physically impossible to get this hotel any closer to the park. Last visit we rode the water rapids ride in california anventure at night, got soaking wet, and were in our room in less than five minutes. Awesome hotel!!
