Riu Tequila All-Inclusive, Playa del Carmen

My husband, parents, sister and I stayed here for 10 days celebrating my mom's 50th birthday and had the most amazing time. This hotel is beautifully kept, clean and the landscaping is lush and tropical. The service in this all-inclusive resort is top notch, even though tips are not even expected. The food is wonderful and different every day, the buffets so long you can not possibly try it all. The rooms are nicely decorated, roomy and comfortable. We actually enjoyed the short stroll to the beach every day - the only exercise we got! We never had trouble finding lounge chairs (pool or beach) later in the day, even for a family of 5. I would suggest passing through the other RIU resorts on your way to the beach, which gives you a chance to check them out. I would recommend this resort to anyone, from families with children, couples and singles. We will certainly return. Can't wait!

Two families (each with two kids) went for an incredbile week in February 2003. We liked it so much that we have our entire family (17 people) going again in June 2005!!! Kids Program was GREAT, SAFE, FUN!!! Food was INCREDIBLE every day/night!! We liked the pool more than the ocean as there's no salt/sand to worry about...and the bar is only 20 feet away!!! :-)

This place is beautiful. The food is great and service was excellent. Our room was a little stuffy (I don't think the air conditioner was working well). We would go again in a heartbeat!

Great tropical atmosphere, fabulous food, not far from beach. Nice staff. good entertainment. Would go there again in a heartbeat.

my husband and I stayed at the RIU Tequila during our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. If we could have, we would have stayed for atleast a month, not just the one week. I loved the look of our room, however, I did not like how they moved two small beds together to form a large one -- this didn't make for the best sleep, but everything else was exceptional. they allowed their guests to walk freely with food and drink to their rooms or around the resort, and since this was all inclusive, it was endless heavenly snacking. they also had fully stocked (free) drinks of all kinds in the fridge in our room. There was more than enough staff to keep the resort looking wonderful and everything we asked for was happily provided. they had water aerobics and dance lessons just outside our hotel in the main resort area and there was activites available for children too. the restaurant was exceptional in the quality and variety of food. my favorite for breakfast was choosing from five or six freshly blended fruit juices available--papaya was the best. our first time coming into the restaurant we were met with waiters in suits and bow ties all lined up at the door to welcome everyone for supper. they were very attentive to our dining needs--always more wine or coffee and clearing our plates as we finished. The poolside evening steak house was also exceptional-- special reservations were needed for this. Also, our resort was one of the main areas for tour guides to pick up groups so we didn't have to walk around to find out where to go--just outside the doors. It was about a fifteen minute cab ride to Playa del Carmen where there is so much to see and so much shopping oportunites. there was also a small strip mall just minutes walk away from our resort if we wanted to get out for a bit. there was a trolley that drove back and foth down the brick path to the beach which was only a couple minutes from our resort. I think back to it as a dream I hope will come true again. i was very impressed with RIU Tequila.

I love everything about the place i stayed in..Im telling all my friends about it..and im planing to go back with friends who haven't been there.

Fantastic time, great staff, great beach, great food, great drinks, great rooms, great entertainment and great weather. Just the best holiday. Would recommend to all ages especially couples and families. Could not fault it hope to go back later this year!

We just came back from six fantastic days at the Riu Tequila! The resort was beautiful, the weather was great, the service was fantastic. We never had trouble finding a chair at either the pool or the beach and the water in both places was wonderful. I think other travelers perpetuate the idea that you have to be out at 7am to get a deck chair so people go down and drape their towels on chairs to reserve them. (We were always able to find chairs, but quite frankly I would have moved someone else's hotel towel because I think it's silly that chairs would sit empty for hours.) The walk to the beach was actually one of our favorite parts every morning because we always saw monkeys and iguanas! Our room smelled tropical not musty and was just lovely. My husband thought the beds were too hard but it didn't bother me. This was our first trip to an all inclusive and it was great...the buffets are huge and while we didn't like everything we tried, we could always find something that we liked to eat. You could also change your dinner time if you needed to. We ate late and it wasn't crowded but if we were hungry earlier we'd just go in and grab a plate..you just couldn't have your regular table. We would totally go back to Tequila! We found a Chichen Itza tour from a guy on the beach (Alderban?) that was half the price of the Apple tour and we had a great time. We tried a scuba trip from a place I found on the internet, Sealife divers down in town and I wouldn't suggest using them. Contact a reputable dive shop at home for suggestions. Have a great time!

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at how beautiful the grounds were, they take your breath away. The staff was great and the food was really good. My only complaint were the beds were hard but that is pretty typical in Mexico. The beach was the bst I have ever seen, you couldn't keep me out of the crystal clear water. I can't wait to go back!
