Riu Tequila All-Inclusive, Playa del Carmen

My husband and I were celebrating our 15 yr anniversary and wanted to go somewhere beautiful, relaxing, fun and affordable (four kids what can I say). My husband researched like crazy and finally decided on the RIU Tequila. He was impressed with all of the reviews as well as the view of the resort and beach from pictures. It turns out he was right about everything. We had the most amazing trip. The resort was beautiful and the beach was outstanding. We were unsure at first wether or not to book at a Riu with beach front but finally decided that since the riu had a walkway straight to the beach it would be just as nice. It worked out great! The walk way is shaded the whole way and only takes a couple of min. to walk. Once you are on the beach you can eat, drink and swim at all the other three sister resorts. We stayed six nights at the Tequila and then some friends wanted us to come stay with them at another resort, just 10 min away by cab. This resort was very beautiful however, we were shocked at the difference in the beach just a 10 min drive away. Our beach was crystal clear and if it was a busier day we just walked to the north until we found a secluded spot. Some of our best pics were at a rock down the beach to the north. Im telling you! the water was like glass. If you want a trip of a lifetime the RIU Tequila is the way to go!

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon two years ago and are coming back to the Tequila for our 2nd honeymoon in August. We can't wait to go back there. The staff was friendly and all the bartenders were fun and made really great drinks. We liked how the rooms weren't your traditional hotel style and the staff always had our room clean by the time we got back from our daily activities. The swim-up bar was the best and it's the main reason we are coming back to this hotel. Cervezas and margaritas here we come!

We are off back to the Tequila in 2 weeks time a family party of 10 again. We got married out here 3 years ago and had a fantastic holiday. The hotel reviews we read were excellent and we were not let down when we arrived. The wedding co ordinators were very good and we have managed to get a deal this year and are off again with some friends who we recommended it to and family members. Very clean and tidy,loads to do actvity wise and we can't wait for the fantastic cocktails.

We just returned from two weeks at the RIU Teguila, which were fabulous. This resort offers something for everyone. The staff is what really makes the place. Every staff member we met was helpful, courteous and friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. When I first learned the Tequila was 800 meters from the beach I was concerned, however soon after arrival my conerns evaporated. The walk from the hotel to the beach is pleasant and a little exercise never hurt anyone. The shuttle to the beach runs about every 10 minutes and is very convienent. It is an easy 30 minute walk to the downtown area of Playa Del Carmen. Cabs are readily available for 5 USD from the hotel to downtown. Aside from the beach the pools and facilities at the Tequila were tremendous. The two large pools in the center of the complex are refreshing and relaxing. The Lupita restuarant at the pool serves excellent food and the friendly bartenders at the pool bar make sure everyone is refreshed. The nightly entertainment is very professional. In the two weeks we were at the resort we never saw the same show twice and looked forward to each evenings entertainment. I would certainly consider staying at this resort again and recommend the RIU Teguila as a great resort to anyone.

i loved hotel club riu tequila!! everything waas all inclusive, nice little sports bar. Me and my husband could sit around the pool and let the kids go anywhere. i felt very safe.. it was really good that when you went to the beach you could eat at the nearbye restaurant, have some ice-cream, and drinks, and some other very good foods. there was nice sandy beaches and there were games for the kids to play and the water was very nice and clear! my family cant wait to go back!!!!

Just want to say, Riu Tequila is the best hotel we know! And our family travel all over the world every year. Just go for it!

Loved the location,not far from Playacar or Playa del Carmen. Liked the idea of paying a little less than it's sister hotels across the street when we only had a short walk to the beach. Great food, great entertainment..the staff were all hard working from dawn until after the last show, and talented. We have stayed there twice and would love to go back again. Liked the shade around the pool and the size of the pool.

what a great place to go and relax or get involved the shows are fantastic and they really get the crowd involved if your into it ill be back this year for sure and look forward to seeing the staff i made friends with till then ola lu and juliea from canada

my wife and i are regular users of the riu group hotels.we have,nt been there for 3 years but it is one of the best in the riu group. we have just returned from the riu merengue in the dominican republic after a 3 week stay, and the riu tequila will knock spots off it. dont miss the oppotunity go there, like we are next year for three weeksand we care looking forward to it

Our second trip to the Riu Tequila. Loved it the fist time and just as much this time.The staff couldn't be more helpful. The resort is clean and well maintained. We always find food we like. The "animation" staff is fantastic. All go out of their way to be friendly and include everyone who wants in the activities. Hello to Sergio,Ritchie,Rene,Lou and Denise. You all do a great job! We always got chairs at the pool and the beach. In the afternoon you might have to scrounge around for chairs but we always got them. No problem in the mornings. Will be back!
