Comfort Suites Isle Of Palms Charleston, Mount Pleasant

I'm a contractor that stayed here for a week breakfast manager was a plus open breakfast ahead of schedule before we had to be to work and as I was coming back in she left it open to 10:00 am for people that didn't make it down in time Rooms were OK but can tell it's time for a face lift I will stay again.

I found this site after looking at a cnn.com report on how to check if a hotel was in forecloser or not. The article listed dirty carpet as one of the signs as well as poor management. The carpet was so filthy that I kept my shoes on for both nights of our stay. The fabric on the arm of the dirty sofa was almost torn off. We tried to complain to the hotel manager, but there was no manager on site. My husband complained to one of the maids on our way to check out and she referred the complaint to the housekeeping manager who had been off for a couple of days. He was very apologic and said he thought it was the original carpet that was installed 10 years ago when the hotel was built. He also said he thought remodeling was to begin next month, but he couldn't do anything about the filthy carpet. The cnn.com article said a well run hotel should change out carpet and furnishings every three years. We met another couple who said they had stayed there a few months ago and said the carpet was dirty then too. The also complained that the breakfast was good, but the woman running it would not let construction people staying for a week while working in the area start breakfast until everything was set up on the bar. They also witnessed a young mother with small children around 930am ask the breakfast manager if she could get juice for the children. The woman refused her request because breakfast closed at 930am. This couple was there for a week and said that their trash was not emptied while they were there until they put the trash can on top on the desk. They also complained about the icemaker on the 2nd floor not working and that it had the same not working sign posted on it on their second visit. We asked why they stayed a second time and they said they thought it might have improved but had not. We like the Isle of Palms area, but won't stay here again.

The hotel was nice enough and the breakfast was fine...however, if you would like maid service, you will be sorely disappointed as we were. Our room wasn't cleaned two days in a row, and we had to put a call into the front desk (which rang and rang over 23 rings) for someone (very unapologetic) to answer (then put us on hold for 4.5 minutes) and beg for fresh towels and trash bags to clean our trash after two days worth of trash compiled. They called housekeeping for us, and it took hours for them to arrive (well after 5pm). Front desk service is disappointing to say the least,and housekeeping is either understaffed (from what I have been told, check-out rooms get preference and long term guests are apparently are put on the back burner) or there is miscommunication (front desk isn't passing along info of our requests). We didn't receive service at all the first day, and the second day we called in the morning to request service and still to no avail. Needless to say, we will never stay here again and are cancelling our reservations for our visit next month; nor will we refer any of our friends or family who frequent this area. Consider yourself forewarned.

Stayed here over labor day weekend. First floor smelled like B.O. for the first day. Couldnt walk from door to window without socks or barefeet turning black. Beds arent that comfortable, woke up with sore back. Only pros is staff nice and informative, and close to isle of palms island. Not staying here again, will pay more next time

We stayed in February 2008 before we were to board a cruise. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was SOOOO comfortable for a hotel bed. We will be cruising out of Charleston againthis year and will stay here again. The complimentary breakfast was good also.

Room was spacious and decor lack the usual hotel tackiness. Bed was very comfortable and made it a little difficult to get up in time for breakfast. Breakfast is fair...not great but better than a continental. Really the only downfall is that the air conditioner in our room was quite loud and woke me a few times. Second night we just opened the window. If we find ourselves back in Charleston, we will absolutely stay there again. Great value for the price.

This is a nice little motel in a wonderful setting -- near IOP, near Charleston, near great shopping. It's a little dated and not the cleanest place I've ever stayed, but it's a terrific value for price.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay...so much in fact that I will definately stay there again when I return to Charleston. The service was great, staff was friendly, king suite was roomy and clean, the pool was nice and sparkly, and the full breakfast was also a plus. The hotel even had a computer for guest use. Its location was very convenient..close to shopping, Isle of Palms, Patriots Point and just a short drive to Charleston. Comfort Suites at IOP connector gets my vote. My overall experience is 'excellent'.

Stayed here in May 2007 as my usual hotels were unavailable. This property appears to be undergoing a needed facelift with new carpeting etc. Overall our stay was great - location is superb near Isle of Palms and beaches - close to Charleston as well. Room was clean - morning breakfast outstanding - and the staff assisted with several special requests exhibiting exceptional cusomer service. Large rooms - nice pool, and walking distance to movies, shopping, and other amenities are a superb bonus.

We were very disappointed with the hotel. We reserved a king suite and they tried to put us in a double queen. The room was dark and dingy. The cleanliness was questionable at best. We needed to keep the curtains pulled because the only window was an arms length from a well used walkway and parking lot.
