The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra

This hotel blew my mind! The views of the Taj from our balcony room were surreal, the grounds were gorgeous and the staff was fantastic. I felt like a celebrity staying here, especially while we were waited on at the gorgeous pool. Food was stellar and the spa is righteous! Frommer's had this hotel as a must-stay and worth the splurge...which I totally agree. Chances are you'll only be in Agra once, so go big and stay here!

My family and I stayed there for my wife's 50th Birthday and we had an incredible experience. The service was great, the food was excellent and to the musicians in the restaurant, I am forever grateful; they played "Happy Birthday" on the sitar for her and treated her like a queen. It is an experience all of us will never forget!!!

If you can afford it, you simply wouldn't stay anywhere else in Agra. With full view of the Taj (try to get a room on higher floors) this is the best location in town. We could see the Taj from our bed or sitting on our balcony. Service is excellent and they cater to your every need. But it doesn't get 5 out of 5 for value, since it did cost me US$575 a night...

This is the best view of the Taj possible of ALL the hotels in Agra. Each room has a balcony view of the Taj. It is the closest of all the hotels to the taj. A free golf cart takes you to the gate where you get mobbed by merchants if you even look at an item to buy. Price was very high, but for one or two nights of a lifetime it is easily worth it. Like all luxury hotels, they overprice all amenities in the room but NO TIPPING allowed only at checkout. This is great because it saves you the embarrassment of figuring out what is appropriate to give to who. The hotel is on par with any of the best hotels in the USA except room size is only slightly above average but very comfortable. Service was over the top. Everyone speaks superb english.

the place is magnificent..me and my friends enjoyed our stay in amavillas..the room is soo beautiful because its overlooking taj mahal..the staff are very friendly,very courteous and will always help their guests. the amenities of the hotel are very very okay and so are the food..overall we really enjoyed our stay, we had fun!!!! specially with the food and the spa..i cant wait to go back to any oberoi hotels in india :)

There was nothing, abbsolutely nothing that was not perfect at this hotel- the staff, the building, the shops, the restaurants, and especially the bedroom. The spa was also incredible, and because of the small size of the hotel, it was easy to get appointments. When they advertise a view of the TAj Mahal from everyroom, it is true! Could have sat and stared all day. Free shuttles to the Taj, and a pool from the Arabian nights (open all night, too) Staff were all extremely friendly and the hotel discourages tipping. I would go back to India just to stay here again!

By far, the best hotel in Agra with many Western ammenities. Rooms and restaurent are spotless. Service is exceptional. You will not be dissapointed, but your pocket book will take a hit.
