The Westin Poinsett Greenville, Greenville

My wife and I stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon, and the stay was wonderful. The service was excellent, with staff helping us in many ways. We had leftovers from our reception to eat on the road to our final destination, but we had no place to keep them. We asked if we could store them in the hotel refrigerator during the night, and the staff instead brought us our own mini-fridge free of charge. The historic beauty of the hotel and the feel of it was very nice. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is perfect for just about any activity, since it's right off of Main Street in Greenville in the center of lot's of stores and restaurants. I'm looking forward to staying there again someday.

I heard so many things about this hotel. Disappointed? Yes the rooms were not clean for the price charged, the location was great.

We stayed in a suite for one night as part of a vacation getaway. What a disappointment! This hotel supposedly went through a $25 Million renovation. I saw absolutely no signs of it. We had to change rooms twice to find one that was semi-clean. The fixtures and furnishings were cracked and broken, the carpet had stains, and the king bed was kept from sagging by a slab of 3/4" plywood placed between the box spring and the mattress. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown, but the location doesn't make up for the fleabag appearance or justify the high price for the room. Avoid this place.

I'm not exactly sure why this hotel is rated a four diamond. I have stayed at 2-3 star hotels that were nicer. My boyfriend booked a king size one bedroom a week prior in advance. When we arrived at the hotel we were assigned a room on the third floor. The room was so disgusting. There were water stains all over the carpet and the tub had hair in it. The room was also extremely dark and dreary. Our window view over looked a brick wall. The bathroom was very small and the tub looked liked is made for a child. This was thier cheapest room for $179. I really feel that we were discriminated against based on our age and the way we were dressed. They put us in one of the worst rooms possible as result. When we went down stairs to complain they put us in a different room on the top floor and offered us 2 free drinks at the bar. I'm some what offended that they gave us the two free vouchers for the bar as if to say "if we give them free alcohol maybe they will shutup". When we arrived at our second room we could not even get in because the security lock was broken and stuck from the inside. We then waited for someone to come let us in and replace the lock. This room was a little better although it had the same amount of furniture as the last. The only difference was that is was bigger. So basically a large empty space with nothing to fill it. All together I would have to say that customer service was awful and very snooty and the rooms are not worth the money. There are not special features in any of these rooms. Horrible!

Close to a ton of great restaurants - starbucks, ice cream shops, fancy steakhouses, amazing italian, and even simple places like subway, quiznos, pizza etc. Sushi restaurant down the street. Next to a park and waterfalls. Very safe area. Not expensive Coffee shop downstairs In downtown - so can walk everywhere Greats beds. Great service.

If your going to be in Greenville this is the hotel to stay at. It is centrally located in the cute downtown district. The hotel is nice, but one of the drawbacks is the age of the hotel. The rooms are nothing special. The rooms do not seem well insulated and we could here everytime someone walked down the hall. They forgot our turndown service, but other than that everything was fine. the location makes this hotel desirable.

Unfortunately this hotel calls itself a 4-star hotel but it was not a great experience. The quality of service wasn't even close. They confirm over the phone one rate and then tried to charge us a higher rate. We stayed a total of five nights and our room was not made three of those nights. The staff seems to have a disinterest in their guests. They seem laid-back when faced with a complaint, and I can't believe that's part of their "southern charm". Hotel was nice, but the only "historic" thing about it is the date it was built. There is no evidence of history except the decor seems to appear from "that period". They list themselves as having "internet" but it's a small corner with a computer and no access to internet. You need to bring your own laptop. Check your bill upon check-out. They will charge you for the parking garage even if you don't have a car on site.

My husband and I checked into the Westin on New Years Eve, We loved it, It was very cozy, and in walking distance to everything. We ate at Sobe's across the street (this is a must). The Westin had a Small New Years eve party that was great, people talking and having a great time singing with the piano player, a little before 12 hats, party favors were handed out, the mid night snacks were wonderfull. It was a wonderfull stay, The rooms were cozy, bed "HEAVENLY" the double headed shower was wonderfull. Who needs Time Square downtown Greenville and the Westin has my vote for favorite NYE spot.

It is a lovely hotel that has been recently renovated. Much of the old charm has been maintained although it has updated furnishings and ameneties. Service was excellent. Staff actually seemed to want to help and make recommendations. Fantastic location right in Greenville. Great spot for walks around the southern gem of Greenville.

The Westin Poinsett is THE place to stay in Greenville. It was recommended to us by our client and it was an excellent choice. Located on Main Street in downtown Greenville meant a rental car wasn't even needed. Loads of wonderful shops, parks, and places to eat all steps away from the front door. The facilities are top notch and the staff extremely friendly and full of southern charm and hospitality. The last morning there the cab company we called was running behind and we were going to be late for a meeting. The bellman got a hotel van and drove us to our client free of charge. We were very fortunate. The interior is wonderfully decorated and historic detail is maintained throughout with subtle touches such as original doorways and floors as well as old photographs of the downtown area. The gym facilities were great although a pool was noticeably absent. The food was excellent and we made many trips for downstairs breakfast. The hotel bar was hosted by some very lovely bartenders and had some great specials. The "Heavenly Bed" was just that... heavenly. So was the double-headed shower. Overall it was a great stay. I have a return trip next month and I'll be staying there again! Can't wait for the daily fresh squeezed orange juice.
