oh my god

First we were booked into a room that was occupied, then we were put in a room under renovation. The hotel was being updated? I had made reservation 3 months in advance, and was told at check in they were all booked up so that is why we were put in an unfinished room. The ceiling was being redone due to roof leaks. I awoke in the middle of the night to a soaked bed. The roof leaked. Then at daybreak, it really started raining and the ceiling was now leaking in 8 places. The staff brought buckets. By now the ceiling was sagging due to the amount of water it held. We were then told the manger would be in by 7:30. We vacated the room to wait in the lobby arriving at 7:30. Forget about a continental breakfast, nothing was there, even though it is a part of the price. The manager lives on site, yet could not get there until 8:15, 45 minutes after we were told he would be there. The only saving grace, we got a full refund. This is not to mention that the hotel sits on a busy intersection and is LOUD in the rooms. Do not bother, No amount of low pricing can compensate for the low quality of the rooms, the staff the location etc. Save your money and book elsewhere.

This place is cheap, but good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/06
Just got back from this place, late September 2006. Stayed four nighs and had no problem at all. Value for the $$$ is great. (Paid $36/night). The location is good, depending on what areas you want to see. Using public transportation to/from this area is easy. The Red Max from airport goes sort of around this area, but then, you pick up a connecting bus that runs at least every 15 minutes, seven days a week. Gets you basically to the door. Horse racing close by. Rooms were furnished well enough, but the lighting could have been better. TV was fine, with a good picture and remote always worked. Staff was good, but not overly seeming to please, just sort of matter-of-fact about their job. Easy access to some fast food joints, Jack in Box, McDs. Was some noise, with this area having a lot of semi traffic. Even if not a great area, felt pretty safe here. Easy to get back and forth from downtown PDX, and could come back as late as about 1:30 am. Most probably would stay again, especially if price is under $40, which is quite important for someone travelling alone, as I was.
