Jingmin Central Hotel, Xiamen

I would not recommend this hotel in Xiamen. It is very average in all areas. Transfer service as described in previous reviews is excellent, creating big expectations ...but from there on in you will have no positive surprises. Rooms are alright, quite large with wifi. The rest of the hotel is boring and generic. Brekafast is fine. Buffet dinner quite good, beware they close very early (like many restaurants in China). Western food not very exciting. Make sure you do not have coffee in the main bar , extremely expensive. Location in the middle of nowhere. They are renovating so make sure you check this when booking a room. Nothing wrong with this hotel, just nothing right. I think you can do better in Xiamen.

I was lucky enough to live and work in Xiamen for six years and so I have many wonderful memories.Fortunately I still live and work in China so whenever I get the opportunity to return to Xiamen I do so and my hotel of choice is always the Best Western.From the moment I arrive (they have an excellent airport pick-up/hotel check-in service that is all completed before the courtesy bus even arrives at the hotel) to the moment of checking-out (quick check-outs are also available) I cannot ever recall being dissatisfied.Staff are always (and I mean always) friendly,couteous and helpful,the food is excellent and the rooms and room service are exemplary especially after the refurbishmernt in late 2007. Being a "native" of Xiamen the only thing that I find slightly off-putting is the hotels location as it is located in a somewhat nondescript area.Having said that Xiamen is such a close city that you are never particularly far from most parts of the island by taxi,twenty minutes being the most that you could expect in non rush-hour times. To conclude.Would I go back again? I considered Xiamen my "hometown" when I lived and worked there.Now I consider Best Western my home when I visit Xiamen. Mr.Duncan A. Howarth.

I was at the hotel on Business for 3 months. I have gotten to know the employees at breakfast and dinner along with The Easy Bar and The Harbor Bar. Everyone always had a Big Smile along with a professional appearance and attitude. I would like to recognize "Rita, Jane, Virgina, Lucy, Joy, Hellen" actually I need to recognize the entire staff for making my stay very comfortable. You all have been very pleasent and I would like this to be shared with the staff. Good Job to Everyone !!! Near to ammenities and hotel service is good with front office staff always very helpful when you need help and direction. Room is clean and rate is reasonable.

Every one in the hotel strive their best to serve you. From arrival to departure the service was courteous and appropriate. Almost everyone speak English. Door man gives you a card which has details of some important places in Xiamen with the Taxi Number on it when you take a taxi from the hotel in case you need to show the driver where you want to go. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Nothing is too much of a hassle. Everybody helpful.Great place for business people.
