fast easy check in. Staff very friendly. Room was quite. Room was large and very clean. Would stay here again.

The manager, Dan Karki, who evidently prides himself as being the figure head at the Coyote Point Best Western Hotel became "unglued" when he felt he had caught a professionally dressed, respectful middle aged woman, such as myself, to be what he perceived to be "stealing from him". I had received express permission to grab a couple apples and a couple yoghurts from the pantry, by the hotel front desk clerk, as I had been given permission on many of my extended park and fly stays at that hotel. You see, I had a very early flight the next morning, would not have a chance to partake of the continental breakfast served after my flight left, and was repetitively given permission to help myself to a few things from the pantry so I would not go hungry. When this Dan felt he had caught me supposedly stealing from him, he severely lambasted me in front of the staff and other guests. As he seemed to misunderstand, and I calmly tried to explain, he would not listen but immediately began threatening me- and I did feel threatened and endangered by him. So, I discussed it with my husband who was already in the room as it was late, and we decided it would be best to call the Police and file a report. The police immediately came, I gave a report of the unfortunate incident, and I immediately asked that the officers kindly return the small bag of that which the unqualified management person had falsely felt I had stolen from him. Interesting that during the incident Dan Karki had claimed that he was the owner of the establishment- definitely an ego out of control. Well the San Mateo Police Department have been and will continue to watch over this "employee" ever since he reprimanded and threatened a long time customer. We will never stay there again, and I would suggest that you thing twice as you may be the next target of his unwarranted & irrational attacks in the lobby of Best Western Coyote Point, San Mateo, CA. If you may doubt what I am saying here, that's OK, why don't you just test Dan Karki and see what treatment you, the loyal customer might receive yourself. Oh, and Best Western corporate won't come to your aide either, they will side with the property owner- which BTW is not the infamous Dan Karki. I do believe in karma, and what goes around comes around. We will pray for him.

These are two reviews written for Yelp.com compiled to one after the stay: I am a Best Western Diamond club member - their highest status for VERY frequent visitors [a status I have in a couple more chains like Hyatt etc.]. I have arrived at the hotel at 11:30 AM. Early but Diamond members are guarantied early and late check-in [upon availability]. The very nice but very unprofessional receptionist [being nice is great but not enough!], told me she can't even check me in because all rooms are dirty and housekeeping didn't even start cleaning [11:30 AM...]. All this she did without even consulting her computer. I have checked if their suit is booked for the next 3 days and was told it is available. Diamond members are promised upgrade upon availability. Receptionist declined and called manager. Manager conveyed through her that this is an independent facility and he does not have to respect Best Western policies [for those who trust the name...]. He added that I can cancel my reservation and find another hotel if I want! I have stored all my luggage [a lot] in their storage room and just before leaving, I have asked to check which room configurations they have for the night. Receptionist checked her computer to find out a clean room ready. SURPRISE!!! Checked me in and I had to go and fetch my luggage from the storage, where I left it 5 minutes earlier. Couldn't operate my safe. Receptionist said only the manager knows how to..... He might be in the hotel in the afternoon but she doesn't know when and for how long! Good luck choosing a hotel to stay - on my first 20 minutes experience with this one, I would avoid it. My first review was written before my first night of stay [I stayed 3 nights]. It was based on my check-in and first half an hour. It was miserable! Here is the rest [written few days after my stay]. In my initial review I wrote among others, that the safe did not work and it was important for me. Receptionist told me only the manager knows how to handle the safe and he might be visiting that afternoon, though she did not know when or for how long. Well, he did and called on us in the room. He was polite and while subtle about it made me understand I simply did not know how to work the safe [or in other words: "you are stupid enough, sir, not to be able to read a simple three steps instructions"]. After working it a good 10+ minutes he admitted the safe does not work and moved us to another room. He spent some more time with us in the new room until he decided the safe in the new room does NOT work either. A few minutes later he came and announced [and this is an important part of the review as you will see later!]: "we found a room for you where the safe works"- THIS WAS THE EXTENT OF THE "DISCUSSION" - we moved to the third room [me, two 7 years old and luggage...]. Noise level in this room exceeded anything I ever experienced in hotels [it was next to elevators and machinery room] - to a level that one of my 7 years old woke up at night [he never does - nothing can wake him up...]. At the invitation of Best Western hotels, I have filled a questionnaire reviewing my stay and mentioned all of the above [both my reviews posted here]. This morning I got an email from the Coyote Point hotel Manager, the illustrious Dan Karki, I will quote the relevant part verbatim: "However, I was available to help you with safe and it was working, the room choice was discussed and you decided to take the room offered." In other words: once again, it was all my fault - how stupid can I possibly be - we had discussed in length the room offered - he told me it is impossibly noisy and I would not be able to sleep there, and I chose it because it was the only one of the whole hotel where the safe DID work.... My advises: Dan Karki - look for another position where customer service is not that important! Fellow traveler - look meanwhile for another place to stay! Best Western hotels: remove your name from that facility!

first we checked in to what was supposed to be a non-smoking room; they stated they overbooked and had to put us in a smoking room but they said they went in and thoroughly cleaned the room and opened the windows to air it out. It was late and I didn't want to try and find another place, so we settled. It was musty smelling as expected with a smoking room and we suffered through that. AS we were getting ready to climb into bed, my 14 year old daughter stepped on a DIRTY CONDOM on the floor!!!!!!!! she of course shreeked with horror. It was late and we needed to catch a flight in a couple hours so I used a washcloth to pick it up and shove it into a glass so that I could share it with the manager in the morning. Also as we were getting up in the morning and going to leave, we stepped in a pile of cigarrette butts that were piled under the bed (some cleaning job!!) I took the very gross discovery of the condom to the front desk; I asked for the manager and of course he/she was not in yet so I left it for the front desk person to share with them. she stated she would make sure the hotel manager contacted me concerning our concerns. I have given the hotel 3 weeks to get in touch with me and they have made no effort to resolve the complaint. I will never return to this hotel again!!!! Also bathroom was not very clean, and carpet felt dirty.

1. They note down credit card information on note full information (credit card number and expiry date), they did it at least two occasions with me. 2. Front-desk associate watching intolerable contents on laptop, and avoiding basic services by not giving EVEN room key while check-in, customer has to ASK for the key, they are so busy in watching laptop. 3. Gym was not working for 7+ weeks, repeatedly mentioned about it and no response. 4. Dan Karki never ever respond to any of my voice mails on customer issues, at least Dan Karki not called back on 4 voice mails. 5. Bugs were found on pillows and bed sheet, reported the bugs with pillow to front-desk "Dimitry". 6. Reward points were stopped without communicating to customer; Customer should be first communicated before taking away something from Customer. 7. When I file complain to corporate office, Dan Karki was so mad and rude that he threaten customer and said he can evict the customer any time from the property and will make sure to not allow again to reserve the room in future. 8. Mostly travel groups are there in hotel and they don’t care about any new business and behave horribly with customers, since manager Dan Karki have created this culture I have no doubt all other associate following this same attitude and work culture. 9. Worst hotel to stay in bay area and ruin your vacation or trip.

Excellent value for price paid and location to both SFO and Silicon Valley. The property is newer and have very friendly staff. Enjoy their complimentary breakfast by coming right at 6am, if you want it to be quiet & less stressful. I enjoyed their excellent cook-your-own-waffle. Parking is complimentary as well and available even if you check in late in the evening. Complementary fitness center and sauna are a plus for a Best Western property. Only caution, don't expect lightning and uninterrupted broadband connection from their complimentary high speed internet connection. It's free anyway!!
