Quaint and convienient!
By Theeanderons, 10/26/09
This hotel is settled right between Virginia Highlands and Little Five Points in the adorable Poncey Highlands (Atlanta). Close to everything! You can park your car and walk to countless restaurants, boutiques, parks and bars. If you are going to a show at any of the nearby venues you get 10% off your stay. I will say that this is a boutique style hotel and not your fancy cookie cutter hotel. That's one of the best things about it! I would recommend and have recommended friends and family members to sat at The Highland Inn.

I feel at home!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/09
This is not a cookie-cutter hotel! I have stayed there twice, once with my husband and once alone and loved both stays. Everyone makes you feel at home. No maids rolling carts down the hall at 7am!! The neighborhood is great. This summer my stay was during a unseasonably cool time and I enjoyed walking to all the great shopping areas. Great old building, rooms are comfortable and martinis in the lounge are great. What more could you ask for?

Dont try to get any sleep here and bring your own alarm clock!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/4/08
If you are looking to go to sleep at any point you may want to look elsewhere. The pipes in our 80 year old room banged all night. we carried a dog so that then upset the dog alnight. The staff was not friendly. the rooms were in horrible condition and it is overpriced for what they claim it has. Bring your own alarm clock! They dont have one in the room. If you are looking for a plave to just lay down after a concert i wouldnt even recommend this place. ABSOULUTLY HORRIBLE

As long as nothing crawls...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/5/06
Arriving after midnight on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, we were looking forward to staying in a quaint inn in the Virginia Highlands. The facade of the inn is attractive and that's where the charm stops. This is not like a European boutique hotel that it claims to be. Once past the front desk and into the horribly carpeted hallways and depressing little rooms, we had to change rooms once because of a burned out light in the bathroom. The second room brought out the vermin; cockroaches in the closet. We could deal with the accomodations as long as nothing crawled, but alas...We were offered another room, but had no intention of staying! However, visit the Antiques stores next to the Inn for great bargains!

A bargain
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/06
The location can't be beaten. Excelent restraunts and bars a plenty close by. The rooms aren't exactly modern but they are OK. The price is great and there is plenty of parking. Well worth a look.

I'll be back.
By wd, 6/19/06
If you want luxury or the generic McHotel experience, don't stay here. If you would enjoy a quirky but functional value, this is a great place to stay. An old building, but a well cared for property. Small room and tiny bathroom (ample shower) but clean and comfortable. Easy walk to a wonderful variety of food and beverage establishments. Considering the location, it's a bargain. Staff was friendly and helpful with information and directions. I will definitely stay here again.

What a difference a year must make
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/06
I read through the previous reviews which were not very flattering and then I went to their website and noticed that they had renovations and I thought that I will give it a try. The Inn was very close to my friend’s apartment I wanted to be in that neighborhood anyway to do some shopping plus the price was right. First of all, in life you get what you pay for. I noticed that some of these reviews were surprised that it was old. On their website they don’t hide the fact that they are an older place that’s why it is affordable….hello! I enjoyed everything from the cool 1930’s paintings to the very friendly house cat that greeted me at check-in. My room was small, but that it was I expected since I was smart enough to go to their website and view the rooms for myself. My check-in was fine; I had a nice girl check me in and offered some info on area eats. The female manager was great and took me around the place and down into their new Ballroom and Courtyard. Over all, I had a great experience, the rooms were decorated funky and they were very clean. If you are in this area, please consider this place-thanks!

I thought the Inn was ok with me
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/06
I stayed at the Inn 2 weeks ago, and everything was great. The girl at the desk was nice, she gave me directions to my concert. The rooms are small, but I didn't go to atlanta to stay in my room, I went for a concert. I loved the art on the walls and thought that it was a pretty cool place. I read the past reviews before I booked and almost didn't stay b/c of them. But then I thought about how most people never go online too often and talk about how nice their stay was, only when the are mad about something. Let's face it, most hotels have issues of some kind. People party in the rooms, throw junk all over the place and wonder why the rooms have critters. Dugh! If you are on a budget, like most americans are, this is a fun place to stay.

walking distance from Little 5, good value, cozy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/5/05
I stayed at the Highland last summer. A friend and I were seeing a show at the Variety Playhouse and wanted somewhere to stay within walking distance of the venue. We found the Highland Inn online and since it was so cheap, we were not expecting much. Yes, the room is smallish - it's very European and cozy. The location is excellent - you won't be spending that much time in your room anyway so who cares if it's a little tight. Well worth the price. Very clean and nice.

If there's no where else to go...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/20/05
My husband found this hotel on the web...outside is beautiful, but inside leaves much to be desired. Male front desk clerk was extremely curt (no Southern hospitality to be seen, and I'm Southern myself). First room looked at the neighboring building's wall (two feet away)...second room we were given was at the back of hotel overlooking forested neighborhood and courtyard area (no access to courtyard, but had kitchenette). Room slants; heavy rain revealed leak in room and plaster on ceiling fell. No central heat/ac...radiator and windown cooling unit (unit works well if left on high and coldest setting all day). Restroom doorknob didn't work from inside...good thing we were both there, otherwise one of would have probably gotten locked in while the other was out. Only pros I can really see is that it's close to shops/restaurants and nice residential areas. Bed wasn't uncomfortable (we stayed 4 nights...would have probably looked elsewhere if not conference in area). No cockroaches to be seen in our room at least and had a separate sitting area. Place isn't bad for $80/night in this part of town, but would recommend spending as little time there as possible if you cannot afford something nicer.
