I stayed at st paul for my first trip back to SF in May 2005, friendly staff, good service. Just ask and you will get help. Close to everything, like Fishermans warf, coittovel, etc. I give them all credit for how they take care of their guests.I stayed tere three times during 1,5 year. I miss it every day back in sweden.
I stayed there for couple of days and I liked the location of the hotel. You may get to many sightseeings without any transport. Tiny but comfortable room. Rather clean WC and shower and there are no many people waiting for them.
But internet was very slow and interrupted all the time. I could hardly receive my email and couldn't reply it
Excellent location and value for San Francisco. People staying are mostly young travellers - there are a few long term tenants but no scary folk. Some street noise on front rooms but this is expected. Right in middle of Chinatown/North beach - walk to bars, restaurants etc. Bus stop at doorstep. Would stay again, particularly recommend if staying one week or longer as weekly rates are exceptional value, not so sure about the value of the nightly rates. Half the staff were lovely, the other half were surly & lacked customer service skills (made you feel a bit like you'd crawled out of the gutter). Shared bathrooms very clean (cleaned several times a day) and rooms very good for price.
It was cheap and seemed clean enough. it is not yet wheelchair accessable. I had to hike 3 flights up. That would've been ok if the staff, especially the night staff wasnt so rude when they speak to you. They always have a tone and really could care less about assisting you. It wasnt worth the little money I paid.Loud street noise. No parking. Does have central location.
This is a great hostel right in the thick of things downtown San Francisco. It is very clean, the staff are friendly, the rooms are private, the bathrooms and showers immaculate and the perks, such as TV, fridge and microwave in each room, are exceptional. This hostel is so inexpensive it is the best deal in the city. No internet access, but wireless access available. City Lights Bookstore and the Smelly Rose Cafe are nearby, as are numerous nightclubs (Purple Onion, Hungry I, etc)Chinatown and North Beach. Transit right out front connects with virtually every part of the city. An inexpensive ($12) shuttle to the airport can be ordered and wakeup calls on demand.
Really good location. China Town, Financial District and North Beach(Little Italy) are just around the corner.
Really Safe feeling. There is a night security and you feel very good. No problems with "strange" people.
Really clean. The rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. Room service on request. The shared Restrooms and bathrooms are very clean too and are cleand about every hour.
Nice People, everything was perfect.
I was on a very extened business trip and stayed there for 11 months. It is cheap but that is the only think it has going for it.
The rooms all smell. You can't talk on the phone in ecept for in a whisper or the person staying in the room next to you will pound on the walls. Then complain. The place has bed bugs as well.
The maid service leaves much to be desired. The majority of the tennents there do not bathe much and that accounts for the smell in the rooms and the hallways on all floors.
It is a cheap place but unless you like bed bugs and people that are one step away from being homeless stay away.
Absolutely great. You can't beat the location, sandwiched between Chinatown and North Beat and close to the Financial District. Yes the rooms are small, and the bathroom is down the hall, but they are clean and there are plenty of them. What the heck -- you want to sit in your room when in San Francisco?
