Don't stay here
This is a review I have left on other sites, as people really need to be warned about this place. We booked this hotel for a 2 night stay through another website. Although we read the reviews, we thought we would give it a chance anyway. Bad move! We arrived on the first night about 9pm, the receptionist was quite friendly. As other posters have stated on first impression you think it will be a lovely hotel. We were on the second floor and walking down the corridor we did think it could perhaps do with a lick of paint. Upon entering our room we weren't overly impressed with the decor but it did appear clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom however had seen better days, there were some damp marks on the ceiling, there was no soap dispenser by the sink although the bracket was still there. However, we did like the size of the bath towels as they are quite large compared to other hotels. We looked out of the window and had a lovely view of the rubbish area!!! We had told the receptionist we didn't want a wake up call as after the mayhem of Christmas we wanted to relax a bit. However, at 7am we were woken by the brewery delivery as this area was also underneath our window!!! Extremely noisy and this went on for a good half hour. We fell back to sleep only to be woken about 8.15 by the sound of scrubbing against the wall from next doors room! We did wonder what was going on! At this point we decided to get up as we realised we weren't going to be able to have a peaceful lie in. As we left the room to go down to breakfast we noticed decorators coming out of the room making the noise. It appears they were scrubbing the walls down ready for painting! Breakfast was ok, have had worse. We then went to the car as we had planned to go into Nottingham shopping, only to find that someone had tried to break the lock into my partners car! Thankfully they hadn't broken any windows, unlike the car next to us who had their rear window smashed. We went back to reception who promptly gave us a form to fill in. Whilst doing this we noticed two other couples filling in the same forms. We rang the police line that we were given and a very helpful constable took our details and said he would call us back with an incident number. Whilst I was talking to him, two other couples had come back to the desk reporting break ins on their cars and in fact one of them asked to speak to the PC when I had finished. We also complained about the noise that had kept us awake. Whilst waiting for the constable to ring us back, we decided that we were going to check out as neither of us felt that we wanted to stay there in case the car was broken into again. The hotel said we could have a full refund but we would have to go through the website we booked it through. Whilst we were at the desk we got chatting to another guest getting a refund. Although his car hadn't been broken into, the shower had disintegrated in his hand when he had tried to move it. Another guest staying there while his house move was going through, told us that it had been reported in the local newspaper that 14 cars were broken into in one night there. We saw about 6 couples reporting break ins and we went to our car at 10.30. I don't know if there might have been any others prior to this.
My recommendation would be, do not stay at this hotel as the staff seemed very nonchalant about the service that the guests were receiving and the lack of security is a worry. Yes, they have a few CCTV cameras but what good are they? The only reason we knew that is because the duty manager told another guest they would check them later. This hotel should really have had barriers as most hotels do.
If you do have to stay at this hotel then do not take a car. It's a shame as the location is perfect for seeing Nottingham.
