Things I wish I knew now!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/05
Oasis Viva, beach is yucky after hurricane. Have to go to RIU beach to enjoy, pool ok, kind of boring, alcohol was gross, got sick after 1st day, food was not "normal" food, tasty weird, can only use hotel calling cards on phone inside, had to use payphone on street (not comfortable at all), a/c was cold but did not de-humidify the room, no plugs for fan or hair curlers, it was Ok at best, would not go back to this hotel

Would not recommend this resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/08
This resort has two entrances. The Grand Oasis Viva entrance and the Oasis Viva entrance. Know specifically which area you are staying at in advance because it could determine if your room is updated or not. The Grand Oasis offers updated rooms and more privileges than the Oasis Viva which has rooms in very poor condition. Our tv did not work (twice) and the safe did not work. The sink clogged and the rooms were damp and musty smelling. The lobby and pool areas are continually cleaned and look nice. There are many families with children so the outside pool is very crowded. Overall the food is good. There are three main restaurants that offer a variety of foods that everyone can enjoy. The view is nice as the water is a beautiful aqua blue. The bars are usually crowded and have one person working them. The staff at this resort are not very helpful or friendly Overall, this was a fun trip but I would not stay at this resort again.

Yuck...Not coming back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/05
This hotel was not the nicest. Rooms never really got cleaned and their were lots of little bugs in our sink. Staff was very unfriendly. The activities at the pool were very unsafe for younger children. Food was okay if you like to eat the same thing everyday. I will not be coming back here.

every one that worked there were nice and made you feel at home. The food was awsome! and the beach was sensational, fresh and blue! the music in the background made it relazing! The rooms were big, and there was an important to have safe in the room.

Will not ever go back
By GreggA, 4/28/08
We went April 19 -26 2008. Love the beach and the pool. will not ever stay there again. Food was bad, Drinks was watered down. I saw with my own eyes a bar tender filling a half empty vodka bottle with water and then start making mix dinks with it. service was poor. Room was never clean. They would want to clean room around 5:00 in the afternoon. Very dissapointed..

Excellent
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/04
Oasis was the best place I have ever stayed, and I have been everywhere! If you are going as a family it sucks you'll be up all night with the spring breakers! I cannot wait to be going in March again!

Never stay at Oasis anything!
By AmandaP, 7/4/05
Who wants to sleep in seperate beds on their honeymoon? Unless you are accustomed to sleeping double in a tiny bed then you'll want to find a hotel that offers a king size bed, or at the very least a queen size bed. The staff was incredibly rude and the food was terrible. We spent good money on the all inclusive plan and ended up going out for all of our meals. The private beach at Oasis Viva only prompts you to go out at play in Cancun. There were no waves and the shore smelled like sewage. One good thing is that you have privelages at Oasis Cancun for one day. We tok the bus over there and enjoyed a day of beautiful waves and sea side relaxation. If you stay at Oasis Viva, plan to feel grimy all week. The shower doesn't have enough pressure to even rinse your hair out. On top of that, the water smells horrible and you end up smelling like you never took a shower. Spend a litle more money and stqay somewhere nice.

A very fun hotel but not the best
By Dana, 12/7/08
I just returned from GOVB Nov 29-Dec 6. I went with my boyfriend are we are both ~25 years old. Our favorite part was the pool bar, it was always a lot of fun and the bartenders are great! Rooms are very clean but nothing too special, we had a nice ocean view. The beach there is nice but small and there are no waves in the ocean. There are also a lot of people trying to sell stuff but you get used to it and that is something that you will get just about anywhere you go. The food is sub-par. The only good resturaunt was the brazilian steakhouse (blackband only) I also enjoyed the sushi bar for lunch. That and the snack bar for lunch both take a while though so expect to wait to get your food. We had to go outside of the resort for actual mexican food which was a bit disappointing. It is in a great location. We walked to cocgo bongo and the city at night easy 10 min walk. You can also catch the bus right out front that takes you just about everywhere. We went downtown to a mexican place la parilla that I would definitely suggest going to for real mexican food. We also did an excursion to Isla Mujeres which was a snorkeling booze cruise type thing. Very fun and worth our money. We had great weather most of the time it was only cloudy 1-2 days and rained once at night. I give the entertainment staff props because they entertained throughout the day/night at the pool. There is a show every night which is great but very loud and you can hear it from the rooms so don't expect to get to sleep before 11! And another thing is that the maids are up and about cleaning at 7am and you can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms so if you are a light sleeper you will probably be up by 730 in the morning. Overall we had an extremely fun trip at this hotel but again there are definitely better ones out there. We drank our money's worth for sure! If anyone has any questions about the hotel feel free to email! DanaG85@gmail.com

It is a SO SO hotel!
By AmyL, 8/27/08
We went on August 22 to August 26. We got what we were order, the room was fairly clean. Food was ok , but you will sick of it after day 2, mostly ate at international buffet, quicker. Beach was beautiful, we love the adult pool. There is show at night, drink was good for all inclusive. The lobby and the room was smell but we got used to it on day 2. There is no air condition at the lobby (pretty hot and humid at this time of year). There is only one elevator on the Grand Oasis side (only fit for 7 persons). Never listen to the people who advertise other hotels in the lobby. You will waste your vacation time. Give tips!
