Recently Renovated and New Ownership!
By Steven, 3/22/11
The Best Western Kalamazoo Suites is a beautiful and spacious property. It was previously the Hawthorn Suites Kalamazoo which closed in 2008 due to poor management. The property has since completed a renovation in excess of 1 Million Dollars, and has the feeling of a brand new property. The Best Western opened for business in July of 2009, and offers the largest standard rooms in Kalamazoo at a great price, which also include breakfast and internet. We were familiar with the old Hawthorn Suites, but the staff and new decor of the Best Western have been amazing, and we would recommend to any travelers to the Kalamazoo area.

Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/10
Stayed for 3 days. The place is a Motel6 with a fireplace. Pathetic construction quality, numerous hot water issues, and horrible smell. Stay away at all costs

Very good value
By How Disappointing!, 10/24/08
I have stayed here twice as my daughter is a freshman at WMU. On both occasions the room has been very big and clean. I also found the staff to be helpful. This hotel is value for money.

The worst service I have ever experience in any hotel!!!!
By katie, 2/5/07
The cost of this hotel was over priced for the condition of the hotel. The hot water took 5 minutes before you could get in the shower. I left an artical of clothing and still have not recieved it. First I needed to talk to the house supervisor, but she left at 3:00pm and I had to wait until Monday. I called on Monday and she was not in, I asked for the manager and he was not in I called on Tuesday and asked again and i finally got the Manager and the the house supervisior was "let go" and he would research this problem, it has been 1 month and I have called several times without a return call. The staff is rude and not helpful. I would never return to this hotel expecially if there is a better place across the street.

Holiday Inn is Next Door
By Al, 10/7/06
The whole place seemed very run down. The first room I had, smelled and very noisy so moved to a less smelly room and stayed. The bedding, except for the sheets, seemed like they had not been cleaned for quite a while. Kind of creepy. There was no screen on the window but no bugs in Oct. so OK there. The breakfast was OK but nothing to write home about. I would not go back. Try the Holiday Inn next door for a few dollars less.

Clean, Nice Breakfast, Good Service, Fitness & Pool Need Work
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/05
The staff was courteous and welcoming, the hot breakfast had a nice variety, and the room was large and clean with a comfortable bed. The fitness room was borderline - only a couple of machines and one of them (eliptical machine) wasn't working. The pool bottom looked a bit grimey. The hotel room was good, but these other facilities needed work.
