Phenominal Getaway!
By Tom, 06/27/07
We stayed for 4 nights at the Lodge for our Anniversary in October. The hotel is very comfortable and the service was outstanding. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and the big tub was fun! This was my wife's first time to wine country and she absolutely fell in love with the Lodge's service and surroundings. We had one of the best breakfasts of our lives in their on-site restaurant. Try the smoothies! We topped our vacation off with a massage for me and a facial for my bride. The service at the spa was excellent as well. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we sent my in-laws there for their 60th birthdays in April '07. They had an equally incredible time and loved it as well. I've also had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the Sonoma Mission Inn and I've got to say that for the money, The Lodge is a better value. Lastly, I'll close by saying that I am a complete hotel snob and I have high expectations all around. The Lodge exceeded them all. We will be back again!

Nice property with great potential
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/07
I arrived early and waited in the lobby for over an hour until our room was ready at 4:10pm. I had to complain to a supervisor to finally get a room. The room was clean but very tired. It need fresh paint and carpets. They also need to put soap dishes on the bathroom sinks. The bed was comfortable and the pool/hot tub was great and there were plenty of towels on the pool deck. They also provided lemon water and plenty of cups to drink. Breakfast is pretty much non existent though. You have to go into the bar and pay 3.50 for a small cup of cold starbucks coffee if you're willing to wait 15 minutes per customer for the slowest staff members anywhere. On Tuesay and Wednesday you get nothing. I was told that they have to give the one employee two days off that he demanded. You cannot pick up a cup until it is your turn! You're paying 3 to 4 hundred dollars a night for this poor service. On Sunday night during the Memorial day weekend the restaurant, restaurant bar and lobby bar all closed at 10:00 pm although the hotel was full and over 100 people showed up for food and drinks. It was the worst case of a customer experience I had ever seen. My wife complained to the front desk but that was useless. Everyone thought managment was absolutely clueless and if one of the Marriott executives were there he/she would have fired everyone on staff for failing their guests and failing to turn an opportunity into real cash. The hundred people brought decided to bring in cases of their own wine and handed it out to anyone there. A piano player stepped up and made money from the crowd. Marriott did nothing except to provide a security guard to protect the contents of the bar! Shame on them for not making arrangements, planning ahead or even working longer. I would never recommend or stay there again. The staff could care less anyway.

A great place for couples
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/04/07
Great location, rooms and service! It's a great and calm place for couples. I wouldn't recommend families with small children to go there... The cottage rooms are so great we didn't want to leave it!!!!

Terrible. Stay Away!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/06
This place has the most awful service of any place I have stayed in the Wine Country, which is shocking considering this hotel is not cheap. The front desk is a disaster. No bell hop. No help with anything. They couldn't clean the rooms in a decent amount of time in during our entire stay. Stay at Sonoma Mission Inn or one of the small hotels. This place looks like a small Lodge but is really just a Marriott disguising itself as a small hotel. Terrible value.

Beautiful rooms, hard beds
By Eulonda, 05/05/06
The rooms in this hotel were very, very well-done. Fireplace, moulding, bathroom that opened up into the rest of the room. with a french door. Lovely. Only complaint was a hard bed. Staff brought me a cushion; apparently they've had this complaint before from other guests.

Great Weekend Getaway
By Brandon, 03/12/06
The hotel was absoulutly beautifull, and the rooms were nothing less than gorgeous. We would recommend staying in the cottages, they are very roomy with relaxing bath tubs. With the service that you receive from the moment you arrive you will be ready to enjoy a relaxing weekend

Our favorite
By RichardP, 09/26/05
This is our favorite place to stay when we go wine tasting. It's a good location because you can hit the Napa winery's one day, get into the hotel and hit the Sonoma wineries the next day or vice-versa. There's not much to do around the hotel, good thing because the restaurant is excellent, but pricey. The pool area is also very nice, if you're there durning the day, pay for the day use of the spa facilities, the mineral pool is very relaxing. The rooms are extremely clean, fireplace rooms add to the romantic feel. The bath tub opens to the room as well.

I love coming to this hotel
By James JK, 09/22/05
This is Sonoma Valleys great hotels. The rooms are very bright and decorated with country style. Room service is great and the dining room is wonderful as the food is really good. In fact just great. Their spa is very relaxing both inside and outdoor massages. It is only one mile from downtown Sonoma. Their pool is really nice and close to the main lobby as well as neat landscaping and close to your rooms.

Nice, but not THAT nice
By Chickson, 08/26/05
Spent a Saturday night at the Renaissance Lodge in Sonoma. It's a relatively new lodge (I was told that it was built in the last 5 years). The experience was just fine: The room was pretty spacious and clean. Staff was really nice. Room service was tasty and delivered on time. Spa was nice. It was the type of place I would gladly play $150 or so for the night - the only problem is that my room was $340. For that $, I'd much rather stay at the Sonoma Mission Inn, which I think has a ton more charm...

Very nic!
By Trazom, 06/23/05
The rooms are very nice and clean. Hotel staff were very friendly and took care of all requests promptly. Pool area and spa are great. Only a couple of minutes from the downtown square area, and a nice wine tasting on-site!
