The BEALL MANSION, Alton

What a extraordinary experience!! My husband and I were guests for 2 nights and truly needed a getaway to relax and renew our personal energies. Beall Mansion fulfilled our expectations and more!! The Mansion is exquisite with a fine eye for detail...not a speck of dust to be found...everything first class. The gourmet, breakfast included touches from around the world....recipes, champagnes, and liquores. Jim and Sandy were very gracious and personable, giving freely of their time to share their journey of resurrecting the Mansion to the Bed and Breakfast it is today. There are no words to describe the comfort of the beds......the whirlpool tub and the fireplace.....I want to go back there now! The Alton community itself, only 45 minutes from where we live, has so much to offer as well. From the history, architecture, self guided car tours of the community, wineries, gourmet resturants downtown, eagle watching and nature's beauty...who knew!!! As a younger couple (19-22), I was unsure if this was the right place for my romantic getaway with my beau, but this trip ended up being perfect! Our room was ornate and beautiful, the amenities are great, and the area was charming. I recommend it!

The property is lovely, the hosts are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are extremely comfortable and clean. It's all good.

Beautiful sleeping rooms; wonderful parlor, library and dining room - all great places to relax and soak up the pleasures of an earlier time. Just simply gorgeous.

The only thing I would even comment about as negative was the continental breakfast. There was little offered considering the price of the room. The B&B was beautiful with gorgeous furnishings. The bed was super comfortable. The owners were very nice and helpful. I'd highly recommend it for a romantic get-away!

wonderful hosts, a lovely and comfortable stay and in a beautiful neighborhood. truly a luxurious place to stay with excellent value especially on extended stays.

A perfect place to relax after a long day. The 24 hour chocolate bar is just the perfect nightcap.

As a fellow old house enthusiast, I was so happy to find that Jim and Sandy had lovingly restored this amazing house instead of modernizing and renovating it. The modern baths and mattresses are appropriate, but all other features are accurately recreated or preserved--at great expense. Nice amenities as well--we particularly enjoyed the chocolate buffet, gourmet teas, and snifter of brandy every evening. Thanks again for a wonderful getaway!

There is a reason the Beall Mansion is the best B&B in IL....because it is. Jim and Sandy are Wonderful! It is gorgeous there. It is warm, wonderful and elegant. Talk about being taken care of...wow! Nothing more relaxing than a big warm bath with some of sandy's homemade bath salts, while drinking a hot cup of tea and eat chocolates. I have never felt like such a lady. Our honeymoon couldn't have ended better. I did not want to leave. So my new hubby got me some of their bath salts and some of their tea to take with us. I cannot wait to go back. It feels like home. :) Mary :)

This B&B is a wonderful place to get away from worries & the hectic life. Jim & Sandy are gracious hosts. There is so much history about this home & very interesting. (How did she get rid of 5 husbands). The antiques were amazing; the bed was so comfortable; the gourmet brkf. was outstanding. We will be giving some of our family gifts to the Beall Mansion as gifts.
