Not the best
By Lauren, 11/13/08
Honestly, I just left Camp Geiger about two months ago after being there for four months. The Microtel is one of the WORST hotels unless you are there for just a night or two. Service bites, but if you want to stay somewhere cheap, then this is the place. Everywhere else has jacked up prices specifically because it is a Marine town. I do not recommend staying here for more than two nights, or else you are just going to have a miserable stay in Jacksonville.

Run For Your Life!
By Anon, 9/30/08
This place is very poorly maintained. I had things stolen from my room. The manager at the time was very arrogant about the entire situation. He made no effort to provide assistance. Other than one girl who was at the front desk, there is not an ounce of professionalism in this facility. I have seen a sign that claims that this place will be operated under a different franchise name. Until you're sure that the coast is clear, I recommend that you RUN...FAR...FAR.....away!

Worse Place in J'Ville
By Lou Goss, 8/6/07
My son is a Marine and we have stayed at many hotels in J'ville over the past few years. This is the very first time at this place and the last. 1) First of all I was called twice on my way to Jacksonville to see if I was still coming. That made me mad to start with due to the fact that they already had my card number, I clearly knew the cancelation policy, and if I was not there, so what... they charge my card anyway. Yes, they called twice. 2) When I got there they told me that they were going to give me the room for 64.95 and "upgrade" me to a suite. I said fine, not knowing that the room only had one bed in it. I got in the room, which was not acceptable due to teh fact that it was myself and my 23 year old son. I called back to the front desk, told them that I needed two beds and was changed to a reg room. 3) I get in the room and there is no remote. I dont know about how they do things, but we flip channels and a remote is required to do that. They looked for one, but couldnt find one... so we went 2 days up and down to channel surf. 4) Flipflops were a requirement due to the carpet being wet around the AC unit. It was very wet and smelled even worse. 5) Lights did not work. we had two lights in teh entire room. One over the desk and one over the window seat. No lamps, nothing. 6) No ice. Ice machine did not work. There was no sign on it stating that it did not work, just didnt. So I bought ice. 7) No room service. No clean towels. Nothing. 8) Card keys did not work. I had to go to front desk x 3 to get keys programed. 9) Trash left in room from previous person. Underneath telephone table. Candy wrapper. 10) when I started to check out the room rate had gone up to 74.95, which was crazy cause this place in a total dump. I pd it. I am very upset. They offered nothing to try to make us happy. Very upset with this establishment. Plan on reporting to BBB.

Do not stay here - very dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/07
This was the dirtiest hotel we have ever stayed at. One of the beds did not have a pillow case on it. The floors were not vacuumed. The bathroom was unkept. The rooms keys did not work and we daily had to have them rekeyed. We were not the only hotel guests that had complaints about the cleanliness of the rooms. We will not stay at this location ever again. We have stayed at several other Microtel locations and have been very pleased with our stay, but not here.

Dirtiest Hotel I've Ever Seen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/8/07
On the outside it looks like a nice place, but the inside tells another story. The first sign that the hotel does not put cleanliness as top priority occurs on the elevator. The carpet looks as if someone came in and deliberately poured black soil, food stains, and other stains on it. The room was very dirty. The comforters on the double beds did not match. The wall behind the beds were lined with mirrors (totally weird). The bathtub had yellow stains in it. The wall behind the toilet was falling apart and there was some type of black object on the floor that looked like a dead rat. I recommend that this hotel be closed and completely renovated.

Go camping instead.
By J. D., 10/2/06
This is the worse place I have ever stayed. The first day the continental breakfast was fully stocked and throughout the week they put out the same food. The rooms are dirty. The floors left brown stains on my socks. My four year old found a bead and bottle cap on the floor. We were never given a refrigerator, coffee maker or iron as promised. We even had to request more towels. We found a roach crawling the wall in our room. The manager and receptionist were rude and insulting when we complained. They never moved us to another room or did anything after our numerous complaints. We had peeled wallpaper in our room. We had two beds and only one blanket and had to buy one. Save your money and go camping instead. Pay the extra 10 and stay somewhere nice.

Not the Best Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/05
Stayed here not too long ago. The hallway had an awful stinch in it. It smelled like cat urine. Also, there were no "extras" in the room (like a fridge). I thought that one of the features of this chain was that they were for the traveler and had special ameneties in them. Won't be staying here again.

Good, clean, economy hotel for families.
By Catch Fan, 5/8/05
My family of 5 have stayed here 5 times in the last 2 years. It's one of the few places we've found where 2 adults & 3 children can stay in one room. Cleanliness and service have never been a problem. If you want a no-frills, clean, and economical place to stay with a family, this is it. Internet reservation system works and is user friendly. I'd stay here anytime.

Place was nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/04
A few extra options would be nice in each room to help with comfort. Especially when traveling with a child, having a fridge in the room for them is always needed.
