For an older hotel, Blue Haven is stunningly beautiful, with its brightly colored, three-storied main hotel set on 15 acres of secluded, tropical land in the bay of Bacolet. Although Blue Haven was renovated less than 10 years ago, it appeals more to guests who like that rustic, historic feeling. The rooms house antique furniture, but a modern, environmentally friendly solar water-heating system powers the hot water. The in-house restaurant Shutters on the Bay serves up fresh Caribbean and international cuisine. The hotel guarantees serene and quiet settings since it does not attract many families despite the stunning view of the half moon crescent beach area of Bacolet Bay. - Nadia Ali
One can see that the property catrers for you every needs, great scenic place ,especially for weddings on the deck on the rocks over the sea you would have to see it.We felt that reception could have been more welcoming and sincere there were no smiles to welcome you it was like "just do the job". In a general sense to our stay was enjoyable.
In June 05 we spent 9 days at the Blue Haven. Great beach area, secluded and quite. Dinner at their restaurant was amazing. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and fit in so nice with the suroundings. You have to take a taxi to get anywhere, but just call a guy named Too Sweet (no kidding). We will be returning sometime in the future for sure. JMR
A very disappointing hotel
This hotel seems to get so me good reviews, but during our ten day stay there was little to explain why.
Some members of the staff were friendly and helpful. However others just werent, to the point of rudeness.
The food is expensive but poor, the service likewise. The mini bars were never serviced, and the room not always cleaned to a good standard. Even getting sachets of coffee in our rooms was clearly beyond them. After a few days we bought our own in a supermarket.
There is little of a Caribbean welcome here. We were made to feel unwelcome in the bar after 10 PM, when the staff wanted to close and go home. It seems to be aimed at package tours of older people. We were often the last people in the restaurant at 8.00pm.
The 2005 Rough Guide claims they have a gym but rather typically it is actually a building site and was described as a work in progress.
A real shame as the location is good. It is simply not worth the money. You only get a couple of holidays a year it would be a real shame to waste it feeling unwelcome and badly fed. There simply has to be better places to stay.
Great location, very friendly helpful staff. Bedrooms fine but not much wardrobe space. Restaurant - breakfasts really good but disappointed with "4 course table d'hote dinner" which consisted of small appetiser, soup or other starter, choice of 3 main meals (always overcooked fish) and ice cream or other dessert. A minority of guests took dinner (hotel half full).
