Would never book again. Terrible.
We booked our stay with Grand Hotel Francais through Travel Republic as a Christmas getaway and were looking forward to our trip, especially due to the reviews which indicated the friendly nature of the hotel. Unfortunately our Christmas plans were dashed when the Eurostar snow problems of ’09 set in, meaning that we were not able to make our arrangements.
We contacted the Grand Hotel Francais and also Travel Republic to inform them of our difficulties, Travel Republic could see our problems and requested that the hotel refund. We also advised the hotel that we would be happy with alternate dates.
The ‘friendly’ hotel has not responded to any of the emails that we sent to them over a two week period, and have refused alternate dates or a refund despite informing them of our problems prior to arrival. We did not have non refundable reservations and were kind and courteous throughout.
We would not know if the hotel is good or not, nor if the hotel is friendly but as they were not even as friendly enough to reply to an email about our booking which we consider to be nothing but rude. We hope that they enjoy prospering out of others misfortunes, and they are the only company that we booked with that would not provide alternatives or refunds. All this at Christmas, in the snow, we wonder where the festive spirit of thes Grand Hotel Francais is? Would you want to book this hotel, really?
We would never book this hotel again, and certainly not through Travel Republic. We have since rebooked our trip to Paris at another hotel and would not recommend this hotel at any cost. What a poor and miserable service they provided, and a terrible shame that they don’t even respond to paying customers.
