We had booked two rooms (3 people) months in advance and received confirmation of our booking for 27th April 2008 direct to our Namibian agent and we even had our official booking vouchers.
Upon arrival however we were informed that they had one room only for us with 3 beds. The owner explained that they had knowingly overbooked as they had a large tour group coming in. They wanted to maximise revenue and seemed to be used to this situation. They had not contacted us or our agent in advance. We received no apology until after about an hour when we demanded one. We had little choice but to agree to their scheme.
During our wonderful 3/4 weeks tour of Namibia the Etosha Garden Hotel was the only hotel/lodge to behave so badly and unprofessionally and I am sure they would do so again.
Do not use this hotel if you value service, integrity and want to find your prebooked room(s) awaiting you at the end of a long journey. By the way, the much vaunted a la carte restaurant is ok but nothing out of the ordinary. There are other hotels, B&B's and Lodges.
